Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul

Updated Dec 29, 2007 at 05:51 AM by sirI

Chicken Soup for the Nurse’s Soul encourages, uplifts and honors nurses by sharing the sunshine and sorrows of their profession. Nearly 3000 health caregivers from all over the world offered their stories, their hearts, their souls to inspire one another. This collection of true stories champions the daily contributions, commitments, and sacrifices given by nurses and portrays the compassion, intellect and wit necessary to meet the ever-challenging demands of the profession.

I've also had this book for a while and I absolutely love it. It's so inspirational, especially when you didn't do so well on a test or are just having a bad day. These nurses are amazing and we need to remind ourselves that what we do everyday makes us just as amazing, never doubt yourself or think that your not a good nurse. I also highly recommend "A Cup of Comfort for Nurses." Same idea, inspirational and funny stories from nurses. Enjoy!

Thumbs up Re: Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul
One of my all-time favorites is the story about the tiny nurse who saved the patient and all patients around him.
He was a huge man who abused drinking and drugs. He would often go into DTs. One evening when he did, he came down the hall dragginh his central line and the monitor that was attatched to his body with him. He went into a semi private room, jumped up on the empty bed, and began threatening remarks. Nobody knew what to do except the mentioned tiny nurse, who the big guy liked a lot.

She knew just what to do to get him back to his room. She removed her uniform and stripped down to her panties and bra. Then she went into the room where the big guy was. Then she began to sing and dance in front of him. He calmed right down, and followed her back to his room like a puppy dog.

I say a giant HOORAY for that tiny nurse. She packed the wallop he needed at that time.
