Great Book!

by BethT

I just read a book called Nurse, by Peggy Anderson. I am not a recreational reader, but I really, really enjoyed this book and just wanted to share. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Default Re: Great Book!
I read that book! I especially enjoyed the part where her Male nurse colleague, army nurse (school mate) puts his heart into the work and boosts the joy of nursing by celebrating the transfer from bed to wheelchair with singing and cheer. He had the charm that makes nurses love their colleagues.

Unfortunately when the book was written, male doctors were threatened by strong male nurse role models and the author wrote about this as I remember. He decided not to finish school and pursued MD school instead. The end chapter asks the question whatever happened to him.

I also thought it wonderful when she calls herself Florence Nightengale. She tells us that she is not just pursuing nursing to protect her patients but to be an advocate for her family if ever they run into medical difficulties, wonderful!

Merry Christmas!!!
