Jane Austen

by NurseAlwaysNForever Platinum Member

I have recently bought Jane Austen's The Complete Novels. If anyone is interested in reading these and having discussions on them please let me know. I have not read any of her work and am very interested in doing so. Would love to discuss her works with others.

I'd be delighted to discuss Jane Austen with you. One of my favourite books is Pride and Prejudice. I have read it so often, I have memorised some of it. I believe it may be her master-work. It opens "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a young man in possession of a large fortune must be in want of a wife." I think it's a very funny book. There are several movie versions, too; and knowing the book so well increases the pleasure of both book and movie.

I have just finished reading Pride and Prejudice. I absolutely loved reading it and I can't wait to start Sense and Sensibility.

Have you seen any of the movies made of P&P? I reckon the best is the BBC one with Colin Frith as tall, dark and handsome. I can't remember the name of the woman who plays Elizabeth, but she's good too. In fact they all are.

P&P is one of my all time favs - i challenge you to find a wasted word.
