This thread just caught my eye, great looking books. I have ridden for the past 9 years and love my bikes, if your considering going for it then it is something I would recommend.

there is another book that's a good read, by a British lady called Lois Pryce, it's about her journey on her motorcycle from Anchorage to Argentina (20,000 miles) it's a fantastic read and made me just want to go on a huge journey.

What technical books do you recommend for a lady newly looking into bikes?

Diary, I didn't read anything apart from the highway code (the British rules of the rode and all about the road traffic act) I've done some advanced riding now as well and we have books about that which are excellent.

One is called Motorcycle Roadcraft

This is a brilliant book and one of the best things I have ever bought

and this one

They are directed at a UK audience but I am sure there are american equivilents

Also if you like the look of Lois on the Loose, I know they are not specifically for women but the Long way Round and Long way Down books are brilliant to read

Long way Down

Long Way round

Fantastic journey and very well written, although it did give me itchy feet

There is also Jupitors Travels by Ted Simon

All incredible descriptions of adventure motorcycling at it's best.

If that doesnt make you want to ride then finish off with Mondo Enduro

I've met Charlie Boreman (what a really lovely bloke) and Austin Vince (Mondo Enduro) and they are so down to earth, the difficulty is after talking to them it makes the adventures they have been on even more tempting to try yourself.

Motorcycling is so fascinating to me. One day when we get more $$ to be able to buy one outright (and after kids are grown) we might just do it and go across the country.
