What book is on your nightstand right now?

I am currently working on my ADN to BSN program so I am always reading text books. I listen to a lot of books on my Ipod while driving but don't have much chance to actually read a real book. I have all week off of school for Thanksgiving so I am going to read a book-acutally really read a real live book. I am reading "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" again.

So, what are you reading right now????

Read "A Purpose Driven Life." by Warren. A book to keep forever on your nightstand.

I just listened to Prey by Michael Crichton, it is a bio thriller about nano-technology really good, that guy is scary smart.

Currently reading "Tankrider" by Evgenniy Bessonov.

It's about a Red Army company commander (Bessonov) who fought from Kursk to Berlin as part of the 4th Tank Army. His job was to ride "mounted" on tanks and give them infantry support. He was the spearhead of all advances against the Axis forces. His units usually suffered 80% casualty rate - not surprising, when considering that the Eastern Front saw inexcess of 20,000 casualties everyday!

Makes for some really stunning reading.

I'm currently reading a book given to my husband by one of his co-workers (for me, she knew I read). It's called "Talking to the Dead". I'm about 1/3 of the way through and I'm not real sure what it's about. Sisters, I guess. I'm sticking it out, I'm persistant and it's so slow it helps me get sleepy so that's good.

I just finished Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Maybe that's why the current book seems to move so slow. Brown's books are all so fast-paced (I've liked all the ones I've read so far).

I like non-fiction and am currently reading "Triangle: the fire that changed America" by David Von Drehle. It is about the terrible fire at the shirt factory in NYC in 1911 that killed 146 workers. It was the worst workplace disaster until 9/11.

"Cry, the beloved country" by Alan Paton.
A outstanding book written more than 50 years ago. It is about South Africa. A beautifully written book about the country and the people living under the curse of apartheid. The book is old but the message is timeless.
