I met Dr. Moody when I attended a lecture on NDEs. Really nice guy with a good sense of humor. He recommended Morse's books as well.
I've been interested in NDEs since my mother had one in 1979. And of course the interest increased when my son died.
I've always wanted to know more about it. What clinched it for me was the research done on kids, even the very young ones.

Reading Lolita in Tehran is a very good book. Now reading Lolita, a rather dark book, but author turns an interesting phrase.

When I worked nights, I was caring for a 78 yr old woman who was reading the series - she had the book on her bedside table. I told her I was reading the series too, and she said , "Boy, that Joe Morelli and Ranger.. I could eat them with a can of peaches!!" I ABOUT DIED!! But, man oh man, wouldn't you loooove to lay eyes on them just once?? :imbar

grabbed a book while my FIL was in the hospital. It's called Pretty Woman by Fern Michaels. NOT based on the hooker movie

If you visit Janet Evanovich's website she says that she is in the works to make a movie based on the series. Then we can lay eyes on them. I think Nick from CSI Las Vegas would make a good Joe and Vin Diesel could play Ranger. Mmmm I could put him on a cracker and eat him.
That did not sound good.

Shadow of the Giant by Orson Scott Card (was delighted to learn that there are two more books coming in the series, "Shadows in Flight" (that ties the second series directly into the first and promises that Bean and Ender will meet up again) and "Ender in Exile", (a new book from Ender's perspective, with the time frame being somewhere between Ender's Game and Speaker).
(if you don't know, Ender's Game is one of the greatest books written. Ender was cool-ly being Ender in the hearts of kids long before that British upstart, Harry Potter. Ender is going to be a movie in a few years. If you want a teen/young adult/yourself to be in on the ground floor before it's 'hip', I strongly suggest it now.)
Non-fiction: "Spook" by Mary Roach. Started off great, fizzled at the end.

:chuckle I love all the books in that series! A movie would be fun, but it would have to be really really good to live up to my imagination. Grandma Mazur's antics are a hoot, especially the visits to the viewings at the funeral home.

Big agreement on both counts. Shadow of the Giant is on my "to read" pile. My son just finished it and thought it was the best sequel yet. Ender's Game is especially resonant to adolescent males who are into video or computer gaming.
I was disappointed in Spook too. I really enjoyed her other book, Stiff. This one sounded very intriguing but didn't captivate in the same way.
