THanks!
Just got "Goodbye Darkness" today.

Already 110 pages down.

I can't even imagine the unspeakable horror Manchester must have lived through. Rading the book makes me wonder how he managed to preserve even a semblence of sanity

Right now re-reading "Sons from Afar" by Cynthia Voigt for about the hundredth time. She is one of my favorite authors... esp. Homecoming, Dicey's Song, A Solitary Blue, Come a Stranger, The Runner...

I love to read. Someone at work is reading a book called "Choke", about this guy who is a med student, and chokes on food in fancy restaurants to get money to pay for his mom's health care. A really good satire, she says. I can't remember the author but it's on my "want-to-read" list.

World War II is one of the most powerful subjects to read about ever. "Night" is so powerful, "Hiding Place", so many others. I haven't read so much about the battles as the effects of the Holocaust- I will have to try to find some of those you all talk about. As well as my favorite movie "Life is Beautiful" comes from that time.

Just watched "To Kill A Mockingbird" last night, so now I'll read the book again, for the 100th time or so! It's my favorite.
Loved both the movie and the book. I really ought to have copies of both for my library but I don't.

When I saw the movie "Capote" I was surprised to learn that Harper Lee and Truman Capote were big buddies. I had no idea.

Finished "Goodbye Darkness" over the weekend. It is every bit as good as it's reputation suggests.

I just placed an order for the following today:

Should have it by the weekend.

When I was in nursing school I used to look forward greatly to being on break just so I could read something totally without merit like a grocery store bodice-ripper!

Just a few pages left of Shadow of the Giant by Orson Scott Card. Finished How We Know What Isn't So: The Fallibility of Human Reason in Everyday Life by Thomas Gilovich. This book explores the ways in which we mispercieve and misinterpret information.
