| | Your favorite books
Hey... just thought I'd ask around what some of your favorite books (and/or authors) are of all time, that you've ever read, you all have good taste and I'd love to hear what some of your favorites are, get to know each other and get good ideas for what to look for at the library or the used bookstore (my favorite kind of store in the world so far). Including some of your favorite "kids' books" I KNOW if you're like me it's hard to list just a few though.
some of mine are:
-Go Out in Joy- Nina Herrman
-No Language But a Cry (can't remember author)
-Gone with the Wind
-Caddie Woodlawn
-Where the Red Fern Grows
-Mrs. Mike
-A Lantern in her Hand
-Series: Chronicles of Narnia, LOTR, Harry Potter, Little House on the Prairie (Don't judge the books from the stupid TV show!!), Anne of Green Gables, Emily of New Moon
-Molly's Moe
-God is in the Night (a Golden Book)- heck, most any of those Golden Books I'm a dork
-Hiding Place
-The "Shoes" books- Ballet Shoes, Dancing Shoes, Skating Shoes
-The Scarlet Pimpernel
authors: Cynthia Voigt, Madleine L'Engle, Jon Hassler, Andrew Greeley, James Herriot, Beverly Cleary, (I know you will laugh) Grace Livingston Hill
I feel like I'm leaving a LOT out!! Please add to the list and let me know what you think if you've read any of these others.

Re: Your favorite books
Omigosh!!! I didn't know anyone else who had ever even HEARD of "Mrs. Mike", which is one of my alltime favorites........I loved that book as a girl, and finally found another copy 30-some years later. I'm glad to know another person who enjoys that story as I do.
As I've grown older, I've begun collecting the books that occupied so many happy hours when I was young. And unlike most things, they haven't lost any of their charm in the intervening years. Thank God for Barnes & Noble and amazon.com, I've been able to find most of the out-of-print books I wanted, and in reasonably good condition to boot. One book, I was lucky enough to get the ONLY copy they had........it was a terrific little story by a local author about good times in Julian, California, of which only about 100,000 copies were ever printed.
Right now, my collection includes the following: The Four-Story Mistake
Peony
The Good Earth
Little Women
Lassie and the Mystery of Blackberry Bog
Tom Sawyer
Huckleberry Finn
Gone with the Wind
Strawberry Girl
Harriet the Spy
The Long Secret
Cherry Ames, Student Nurse
Caddie Woodlawn

I forgot about Strawberry Girl... that is a good one!
Mrs. Mike is actually the book I'm reading right now (for about the tenth time...) I never get tired of it.

Re: Your favorite books
Anything by Anne Mcaffrey, and her son is a good author too.
I mainly read sci-fi/fantasy books, but when desperate i will read just about anything. But no horror please...I am a wuss!
Also Green eggs and ham, and The cat in the hat came back! I know those two books off by heart so can read them to my little ones on autopilot | | No. 6 |

*I also like Aldous Huxley (Brave New World, Island).
*I love the book "Baby Catcher" by Peggy Vincent (any future midwives would!)
*I also like the Left Behind series, but am behind myself in reading them
*I love anything by Nicholas Sparks, really easy reading that tugs on the heart strings

Re: Your favorite books
"Night" by Elie Weisel. Shows how strong the human spirit is and that you can overcome anything. This man lived among the devil and has such grace and no hatred for what he went through. Remarkable man.
Anything by Janet Evanovich and Suzanne Brockmann.
"Diary of Anne Frank". I love the quote that she believes deep down that all people are good. She's up there with Elie Weisel.

Re: Your favorite books
The Blue Castle by LM Mongomery. Its about a woman who is very unhappy with her life. Discovers that she only has a year to live, so sets out to enjoy life. Its a great book. Everytime I am feeling down and blue, I read it. It reminds me that we have more control over our lifes than we believe.
