'Infomercial King' Billy Mays Found Dead in Home

This is a bad month to be a celebrity...damn.

DEVELOPING: Television pitchman Billy Mays — who built his fame by appearing on commercials and infomercials promoting household products and gadgets — died Sunday, FOX News confirms.

Mays was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, Fla., home at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry to May's residence and foul play is not suspected. Authorities said an autopsy should be complete by Monday afternoon.

i heard he was in a plane accident earlier this week at the tampa airport where no one was hurt but quite a few people got bumped around. i'm wondering if maybe he had a subdural or something random like that.

what the heck is up with celebrities dying lately? thats like 5 in the past month, 4 this week.

Good grief! I really liked Billy Mays. I know some people found him annoying but I was not one of them.

My daughter used to love him when she was little and he did his oxyclean commercials. She used to beg me to stay up to watch his infomercials. She's a lot older now, but when I told her this morning what happened, she actually teared up.

What is the craziness going on this month with celebrities? And there's still three more days left until June is over!

I'm with you, flightnurse2b. I am thinking subdural hematoma...slow bleed. *nods*

He lives in Tampa, right near me...so this is huge news here.

I already have my theories. He took a smack to the head during a plane landing the other day in Tampa. In the original thread where I posted this...the going consensus is a subdural hematoma.

Guy almost gets killed in a plane accident three days ago and then dies in his sleep today. Amazing.

Good grief.....Its been a hard week for cultural icons on the mortality front....

Ed McMahon
Farrah
Michael Jackson
and now Billy Mays?

I guess the TV series Pitchman will have to find a new lead...

WOW.

I'm getting a little perturbed with all these 50-year-olds dying!!!

I didn't much care for Billy Mays, but dang, he sure as heck didn't deserve this. His poor wife.........what a shock that had to have been for her.

I think you all are right that the cause of Mays' untimely death was subdural hematoma. Very, very sad.

Hopefully this---as well as the death of Natasha Richardson---will increase public awareness of the dangers of closed head injuries.

May everyone who passed this week---this month---celebrity or not---rest in peace.
