TrueBlood

by Tait Staff

Having read the original Sookie Stackhouse series on vampires, psychic waitresses and everything in-between, I was hesitant when the HBO series TrueBlood was announced. However, if you can separate your brain from the books (this having been if you have read them, which I highly recommend) the show is a dirty, lusty Sunday night fun romp. However it only follows the series in its base characters and general idea.

Just make sure the kiddies are safe in bed, because there is blood, violence and a bit of Anna Paquin naked, along with quite a few others, especially in the beginning of season one.

I have been struggling through the book. I think it is awful. Because of the book, (Dead until Dawn) I haven't watched the show. Maybe I will give the show a chance...

It's definitely not for everyone. I picked them up because of the cover art for some reason, and was surprised when my husband (we were just dating at the time) read them faster than I did.

Considering the vast differences between the show and the book, it is very possible to like one and not the other.

Maybe because I am very into the vampire fiction novels of Anne Rice. I prefer the Noble vampire to the Modern one. But, that's just me!

I love the show, and I'm a big reader, so I tried the first book.

My favorite characters, like LaFayette and Tara, barely even get a mention.

This is the first time it's happened to me, but I much prefer the show to the book, at least the first book in the series.

I love this show and glued to the tv with no interruptions while it's on. I've read the books but I'm definitely going to.

I recently discovered True Blood on HBO on demand. On a recent night off I sat and watched 11 episodes of season two. I am afraid I am hooked now. I must go rent the first season from a video store. I haven't read the books.
