I absolutely hate the stupid scale! It has been the cause of many of the worst and best moods I have ever been in. I wish I could get over the mindset of relying on a stupid number to make me feel better about myself but it is so hard. It doesn't matter how many compliments I get or how much weight I can lift... if that stupid number doesn't budge, it immediately throws me off. Do you guys have any tips on how to get over that? Please!

I used to teach Nutrition in nursing school, so was very sensitive as I got a little heavier each year. Nothing gross, just not good.

Have always exercised but started Curves for Women six months ago. Lost inches quickly, but no weight. Felt good - easy program to fit in with life as the centers are in local strip malls and usually not much of a drive from home. Also good for travelers as there are hundreds of them (Moderator: please do not boot me out - I am not an employee of Curves, just posting my experience of this outfit.)

Added WeightWatchers ON LINE (I hate meetings) recently and now the pounds are dropping off too. I really knew about nutrition, but WW helps me focus. Vegetarian or as close as you can get, helps, as Renerian stated.

Hope this helps someone else.

I stopped dieting and lost 20 lbs. I just feel so deprived when I diet that I decided to stop. Now I eat healthy foods when I want them - if I don't want dinner I don't eat it. I feed everybody else and just don't eat and it doesn't bother me. If I'm hungry I eat what I want but I find I don't want as much. If I crave a bizzard (mostly in the summer) I go and get one and eat it for lunch. I don't wait until it becomes a large blizzard. I lost a whole bunch of weight when I got divorced but I don't reccomend that. When I got married again and was happy I gained some back. That's when I tried the dieting thing and decided that it didn't work for me. Good luck. I'm a normal weight now and hope to stay there.

Throw the thing out of your house! I don't own one now, and will never own one...no matter how much I continue to lose! There is one in the fitness center, but I have only seen one person weight themselves on it, and he was doing his security rounds at nite!

That's interesting! I still eat meat on a limited basis, but I hate to even shop for it anymore--the sight YUCK. (If someone else wants to cook then why not hehe) so I'm thinking about going without it. Not sure if I'd like cooking myself a separate meal though

Darn. I have gained 10 lbs since started school. Before I went in, I had just had my son and got right down to my prepreg weight and then some. Looked and felt good. Now, 10 lbs heavier (may not sound like too much, but wanted to lose another 10 to get down to my prepreg weight before I had my daughter, so now I have twenty pounds to lose), I have found out the problem. I stress eat! I have never done this until school. So, yeah, I sympathize with you and complaints of weight gain/loss. I tend to drop weight when not stressed or working on 10 billion projects, so hopefully I can drop a few pounds over spring break.

I have been trying to loose weight for years. I have exercise equipment that doesn't get used. Have been on every diet known. I just tried the Atkins diet and lost 10 lbs but had a constant pounding headache. I ate a sandwich and my headache went away. I guess I can't continue that diet. I live in the country. Lots of walking space but no one to do it with. My main problem is lack of motivation sustainment. I go good for a week and then loose it.

Leslie I do cook two meals every night. One for the "carnivors" LOL and one for me. Sometimes the smell bugs me but for the most part I am fine. Is that you in your avatar?

You know what Cindy..is there anyone who could call you everyday and motivate you?? It really helps to have a buddy when trying to start and maintain a fitness routine. My weight gain didn't start until after I was 50. I always lost weight easily after each of my children, and I developed a love of running from the military. I continued to run d/t the high I would get from it.

But somewhere along the way I stop being as active as I had been. Starting back on a fitness routinue was difficult for me, as my knees had started to act up. I guess they didn't like the extra weight placed on them. But even that didn't motivate me. It took coming here, where they're a many involved in getting and staying fit. Even the residents go to the gym, and we raz each other if we miss a night, plus the $5.00 is a real good motivator! :chuckle
