Xmarks For Internet Explorer And Safari Favorites

by CaptainPC Premium Member

While as a PC user I personally prefer Firefox to Internet Explorer for my web browsing, there are occasions when IE must be used. Not all web sites are Firefox friendly, and some users have to use IE to do most of their online chores. My wife, for instance, must use IE to access most of the online apps used on the University’s web site where she teaches. Due to the heavy and continued use of IE, she has no interest whatsoever in taking a look at Firefox.

The same people who made Xmarks for Firefox a reality, have also produced versions for Internet Explorer and for the Apple Safari browser. Now those PC users who are locked into IE or just plain prefer it to Firefox, can enjoy the benefits of bookmark synchronization. OS X 1.5 users can just as easily enjoy the benefits as well. If you have more than one computer in your home or home office, you can keep your bookmarks synced with very little effort.

To download your preferred Xmarks version, click the following link for their web site:

Xmarks

Just click the “Download Xmarks” button for IE or the button for Safari to begin the download. Please note that you must have IE 7 or IE 8 for Xmarks to work on your PC, or OS X 10.5 using Safari 4 if you have a Mac.

Follow the installation directions as they appear, and you will be prompted to set up a free account with a user name and password. Continue on and note the options provided, make your choices and let the syncing begin!

I use Xmarks on Firefox, and now on IE, so both browsers have the same bookmarks and stay synced. How about you? Have you used Xmarks? If so, has it been a time saver for you? What are your thoughts?
