41 year old pacifist discovers he's Charles Manson's son

Matthew Roberts, now 41, was given up for adoption as a baby. Growing up in Rockford, Ill., he didn’t know he was adopted until his sister told him in fifth grade and it shocked him.

Like many adopted children, Matthew embarked on a mission to find his biological parents. He wanted to know, most especially, his father and see if there is any identity of him in what the son has become today.

Matthew, who is the spitting image of his serial killer-father, Charles Manson, is said to have fallen into depression after discovering his identity. “He’s my biological father – I can’t help but have some kind of emotional connection. That’s the hardest thing of all – feeling love for a monster who raped my (biological) mother,” Matthew said.

Like Manson, Roberts is also a poet and musician, in addition to being a DJ. Fortunately for Roberts, he doesn’t share his father’s most famous proclivity. Says Roberts, “My hero is Gandhi. I’m an extremely non-violent, peaceful person and a vegetarian. I don’t even kill bugs.

i just don't see the son bearing a strong physical resemblance to his father.
maybe because manson looks evil, whereas his son does not...at all.

I agree with you Leslie. I have to feel sorry for this man. That info is certainly something to be depressed about.

I'm assuming that the son revealed his lineage to the press. So, could talk shows and book deals be far behind? I know. I'm a cynic....it comes with age.

His facial expression is normal.

My cousin never wanted to know who his biological parents are. We do know his mother was 16 when he was born. His mother, my aunt was 29 and seven years married.

He says, "I know who my Mom is and who my Dad was."

Poor man looks depressed. He will need all of those royalties for good mental health care.

Wonder why he feels the need to feel love for the guy. Society has it all wrong...you don't really have to love your parents.

I can understand his not really wanting to love his DNA donor, but for his own sake not wanting to hate him either.

I hope he comes to a point (and he may very well have already) where he realizes he that just because they share DNA does not mean he has to be like him. So far doesn't seem like that's been a problem.

I feel for this man, and also the birth mother who tried to protect him from this terrible knowledge.

Maybe some of the old adoption practices of anonymity weren't so bad after all.

I agree - and I heard that DNA tests haven't been done yet . . . .

Let me tell you, DNA does NOT mean a person is a parent . . . .
