Thanks for the ideas. The book sounds great Shay and I'll see if it's in my local library
Had a great weekend b/c found some cool free things to do with the kids.
Have been using the $2 store [around .90c] and is good for kids stuff.
Am also changing my electricity company and have been researching how to get my bills down. My new company is a bit cheaper and has some good ideas to save money, can see them at:
www.mycontact.co.nz
I am going to lower my hot water cyclinder temperature to 55 C and wrap the cylinder too. That's supposed to help.
Am wondering about using those lightbulbs that use very little electricity [b/c they don't put out any heat]. They are a bit expensive but apparently last for years. Does anyone know about them?
Keeping track of little purchases is really helping. Have found that it doesn't make any sense to take children shopping...especially when they are hungry! I also now don't go out of the house without refillable water bottles for me and the kids...certainly saves buying drinks when out.
Rustyhammer- buying a whole animal is certainly a lot less expensive. Thanks for the idea...I could go halves with another single parent.

I used to receive a newsletter called "Cheapskate", a lot of really good ideas. I think it's also online at Cheapskate.com.

There is a great newsletter on Yahoo Groups called Frugalliving that has tons of hints to cut costs. I subscribe to the digest version, that way I only get about 1 or 2 newsletters every day. I have found some great money-saving ideas on there.

Also try:

www.notjustbeans.com

a fun, humorous frugal living website I visit on occasion. There is also a book Featured there you can order that looks pretty interesting. Good luck!

Here is another good newsletter with lots of archives with many good ideas:http://www.stretcher.com/menu/topic.htm

RUSSELL: We just put another 3-4 wagon loads of wood in our new woodshed this weekend, have the scars to prove it! We built woodshed on end of house and a new room over it attached to kitchen. I figure its my free room ( just an extra space) with lots of windows for sunlight and will be putting in a SunTube this next week in roof. (DH is a carpenter, does this when he comes home on weekends! Its only taken a year and we are still far from done)

I shop at Goodwill and Salvation Army for clothes, and the Dollar Store for hygeine and laundry soap and stuff like that.
I clip coupons and shop at Kroger's where they double coupons...
we have a blast as a family finding coupons and figuring our whether it actually is a deal or not!
And, my 16 y/o daughter and I have an absolute time at Goodwill! (She's eccentric and so am I).
Good Luck to you and God bless!

Kelly, hon, I can't find a website that is specifically hers that describes her ideas. If you can afford to buy the books, DO IT. You'll re-read them again and again. If not, yep, there's always the library.

BTW, are you pg yet? And oh yeah, YOUR OLD COWORKERS SUCK. Glad you feel safe enough to 'out' yourself again.
No, shay, not yet. But, I've been practicing.. Gonna start dieting again tomorrow!

I really like my new job! They told me today that they've heard a lot of positive feedback about me! Thanks for asking!
