Re: Christmas/greeting Card Holiday Activity
Okay, I am feeling a little stuid today, maybe cause I havehad a bad week at work this week or something but I can't remember how to do a private message so that I can send my information to Chris so that I can get on the list, I love making my cards and I love sending to all you in Allnurses. I am sorry that I haven't been here much lately bu life has been pretty busy lately..isn't that bad when real life gets in the way.
So if someone will give me the info so that I can send in my address to add to the list I would appreciate it. I have been looking forward to this and it really puts me in the spirit of Christmas.....

Re: Christmas/greeting Card Holiday Activity
Hi Sonya!
Don't feel bad, they changed a lot since last year.....
On any page where you can see "My Account" (right under the allnurses.com logo), click on My Account.
It will drop down and you can see Private Messages. Click on that.
The next page will have "Compose Messages" as on option on the list on the left.
OR, you can click on my avatar, the next page will have a block of blocks (sounds weird but makes sense when you see it), and on the right side there is a box that has two choices, one to send a private message and the other to send an email.
Either will do!
So glad to see you!
Chris

Re: Christmas/greeting Card Holiday Activity
I just wanted to thank everyone who has signed up so far.
If you have the opportunity, please pass the word among your allnurses friends....
It is open to EVERYONE who is a member, and it is quite a lot of fun to do.
Many make cards--simple ones are lovely and easy and inexpensive.
Many search the dollar stores and find lovely cards--also lovely and easy and inexpensive!
In any case, do join us--we want to send you a card! And we'd love receiving one from you!

For those of you unfamiliar with this holiday activity....
Any member of allnurses can participate. You do not have to be a premium member.
If you do not join the list, you may not have the list (please don't ask, I hate to have to say "no")--the trust in sharing our contact info comes in part from the knowledge that we are all equally "exposed."
If you want to do email cards, this list is not for you. Most people have concerns about email cards because their information is being posted (basically) on a site they don't personally know will keep it confidential. I don't do it, but many have with happy results.... Perhaps someone would like to do an email holiday list?
You don't have to send a card to everyone on the list you will receive, though most of us do.
If you are strapped this year but would like to receive cards, please do email me and say so.... we don't discriminate on basis of need!
We typically have about 100 participating, which means (if you buy your cards at the dollar store or a similar place, or make your own), you will spent $5 to $10 (US) on cards and about $41 on postage, if you send cards to everyone on the list (not necessary but most do).
You will receive about a hundred Christmas (or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or whatever--depending on the preference of the sender) cards in return.
In the past I have received some very newsy cards, as senders included their family newsletter.
Some members make their own and they are so cute!
I have received some lovely "nursie" pins from a participant in Canada, which I have worn with pride.
Since my family does not send cards or celebrate, and you all are like family, this fills a certain holiday need for me--and many others.
Come and join us! You'll be happy you did.....
And mods, in the past this has been a Break Room stickie--could we do that again?
Thanks!
Chris
Hi Chris!
Thanks for doing this wonderful activity again this Christmas for us! I haven't been able to send cards the past couple holidays, but have received some very heart-warming cards from some wonderful Allnurses peops the past two years!
I should be getting a post office box mailing address in a couple weeks, and I'll let you have that as I don't yet have a place of my own to live yet. Thanks again! | | No. 27 |

FOR ALL MEMBERS: Christmas/greeting Card Holiday Activity
The first list has gone out.
Please check your information and see that I spelled everything right.
Please email me with changes I need to make.
If you are supposed to be on the list, and you didn't get an email, please email me or PM me, and let me know, and we'll figure out why.
We have something like 26 so far, which is spectacular for so early in the season.
We hope more will join in. It really is a hoot, and it helps replace some of that "community" or "neighborhood" feel that we have lost or are losing because we have become so mobile and so isolated with our technology.
If you haven't tried it, this year is a good time to see what it's like!
And ANY member of allnurses can join in....
