Christmas/greeting Card Holiday Activity

Updated Oct 03, 2007 at 01:16 PM by chris_at_lucas_RN

Hi, everybody, it is that time again!

Anyone wishing to participate, please send me an EMAIL via this site and provide your allnurses ID name, your real name, your address including city, state, country and zip or postal code. Please also give me your email address so that I can send you your list of members participating this year.

For those of you unfamiliar with this holiday activity....

Any member of allnurses can participate. You do not have to be a premium member.

If you do not join the list, you may not have the list (please don't ask, I hate to have to say "no")--the trust in sharing our contact info comes in part from the knowledge that we are all equally "exposed."

If you want to do email cards, this list is not for you. Most people have concerns about email cards because their information is being posted (basically) on a site they don't personally know will keep it confidential. I don't do it, but many have with happy results.... Perhaps someone would like to do an email holiday list?

You don't have to send a card to everyone on the list you will receive, though most of us do.

If you are strapped this year but would like to receive cards, please do email me and say so.... we don't discriminate on basis of need!

We typically have about 100 participating, which means (if you buy your cards at the dollar store or a similar place, or make your own), you will spent $5 to $10 (US) on cards and about $41 on postage, if you send cards to everyone on the list (not necessary but most do).

You will receive about a hundred Christmas (or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or whatever--depending on the preference of the sender) cards in return.

In the past I have received some very newsy cards, as senders included their family newsletter.

Some members make their own and they are so cute!

I have received some lovely "nursie" pins from a participant in Canada, which I have worn with pride.

Since my family does not send cards or celebrate, and you all are like family, this fills a certain holiday need for me--and many others.

Come and join us! You'll be happy you did.....

And mods, in the past this has been a Break Room stickie--could we do that again?

Thanks!
Chris

I'd love to join this year. Missed last year's, but I'm moving soon and not sure of the address yet. Can I give you a definite maybe? It should be around Halloween.

Hiya, kat!!!

Of course you can wait.... I have added names as late as the 22nd of December or so. (Not recommended, but late cards are OK!)

The sooner the better, of course.

Congrats on the move!

Chris, I went ahead and made this a "sticky" for the benefit of those who currently wish to participate, or choose to do so in the coming weeks. Good luck with the project.

I was wondering when we were going to get started. I mailed everyone a card last year but it took a good month to get them all out...Glad we are getting going.... Oh and thank you once again for bringing the holiday spirit to all- nurses.....

Tee-hee, we started last year on October 1, and it felt odd, like it was too early.

Turns out early is better.

Chris, a big thank you for taking this on. It has to be alot of work for you.

I was just thinking yesterday in the shower that soon it will be time for the allnurses Christmas list. Always gets me in the holiday spirit to send and receive cards from people I've never met.
