Recently had an ancient calico finally pass on. I think she was 17. For the last five years or so she just slept, ate and pooped. Overheard my son one day on the phone listing the family pets. He ended with, "oh, and then there's Spooky the cat, she's not dead yet."

I never said dogs weren't stupid, they're just better than cats.

But if I wanted to live with a finicky b**ch, I'd move in with my MIL!

I have four cats and love them all, even the two sisters that puke at least once a week, and more if they are ****** off at me.

Brushing really helps and they love it, I'd vacuum them if they would stay in the room for it. I also feed them their treats separately because when together they tend to wolf their food and puke it right back up.

I leave dry food and water out all the time and I found that by moving the food dish about 3 feet away from the water dish they puke less. May be both at the same time overloads their stomaches. I also moved the food and water into the bathroom since they are most likely to vomit with full bellies and the bathroom floor is the easiest to clean up. (I'm always thinking, huh? )

When I adopted my babies it was for better and for worse, and I meant it. You wouldn't give up a baby because it was pukey- well some people would. I can't even consider turning my kitties out, they'll stay with me forever.

Oh No! I live with two cats AND my MIL!!! But luckily for me the MIL isn't a finicky b**ch. Unfortunately, the cats belong to her.
I too am allergic to cats which is one of the reasons that I don't care for them at all, but I digress.

I have three calicos, an 8 year old, a 2 year old and a 3 year old(mama of 2 year old). They eat from the same bowl and share everything, including my 1 bedroom apt. they were all adopted strays.

I maybe see one hairball, oh about every 2-3 monthes and I rarely know who is the culprit. I clip the claws once a month, bathe them every 3-4 monthes, and brush them regularly - see the vet once a year. I also clean their teeth myself when the tartar is bad. They have never (never!!!!) had any little accidents, even when they were first brought inside - unlike Dogs.

While Dogs are lovely, cats are more adaptable to living indoors, cleaner and mine are very loving pets.

Bob l have just spent the last 10 mins gurgling at your diary entries - soo aplicable - we have a dog and a cat.- so tottally agree.

Anyway our beloved first cat died at 18 years - I held him for ages after he went to sleep - the vet was wonderful and supportive.

Anyway we now have a cat called Kramer (named after the TV character- not my idea) when this Birmin (who was dumped at the RSPCA and is beautiful) has fur balls we give him raw egg to eat - it was suggested by one of the vets for our old cat (I think)

Sometimes you cant avoid the furballs - I guess l like the balance of the love they give compared to the odd furball

I had new carpet installed in Dec., kitty started hurling on it last month. It was NO FUN cleaning up those things from my new Berber! So, I bought OTC furball remedy at Wally World, put it on my index finger, wrassled the cat and her hind toenails and sharp teeth, and succeeded in getting half in her mouth and the other half on her face under her eye. Overall, I considered it a victory, because she had to wipe her face off with her paw, and lick the paw off, and I didn't get hurt!
Then my daughter tells me that IAMS makes furball kitty food. TA DA! Her feeder now has a mix of her regular kitty food and IAMS. No furball hurling in over a month!
