Rice milk vs. Soy milk?

Okay, which is for what purpose, and which tastes better? Brands, anyone? Do you only drink this, or do you use it for cooking, etc.?

I think rice milk and soy milk are o.k. for cereals.

Lately I've been buying "unsweetened" soy milks because I've noticed there is added sugar in soy milks and I've tried to cut back. I only eat it in cereal. I can't imagine drinking it by the glass. Yuk.

"Westsoy" is the only unsweetned brand I've been able to find.

I prefer soy milk. I don't like the flavored kinds, like vanilla. Just the plain kind. Soy yogurt is also very good.

Rice dream, an ice cream made from rice milk, is very good, though.

Soy milk is more nutritious than rice milk, not much to rice except the CHOs.

Although I'm lactose intollerant, i really haven't developed a taste for the soy milk yet. Vitasoy brand tastes best to me and it's organic.

Tweets there's another unsweetened brand I've found called yu (although might just be in Canada), tastes like paste though.

We have Yu here to, but I haven't tried it. Not sure I like that recommendation though.

What about Silk Milk? Has anyone tried this brand (reg/vanilla/chocolate)?

Do you basically use the Soy milk as a substitute, or as a supplement, to "regular" milk intake?

I use soy milk as a substitute, but not all the time. If I'm at Whole Foods or the health food store I will buy a few cartons of soy milk, but when I run out and find myself at the regular store I'll just buy milk. I do buy only the organic, non-growth hormne cow milk, though.

I still eat cheese, but again prefer organic, small companies. And I buy free-range chicken eggs. Even though they're more expensive, I hardly use them and so can justify the extra cost.

Just want to add my comments on the soy milk...Silk Vanilla is awsome. No added junk. Good Flavor. If you are interested in trying soy milk but are a little afraid of taste, put it over your cereal at first. I am hooked. Kids are fooled too. Do not recommend the rice milk. Cannot find nutritous benefits over the soy protein in the soy milk.
