Ahhhhhhhhh been slothing around in my jammies all day after we got home from getting some stuff at Sam's. Got Lily's Birthday gift completed, bought some stew beef so I have a nice pot going in the crock pot for da man.
I put some onions, vinegar, olive oil, spices and mushrooms. It smells delish and hubs has already taken two samples
I have been watching some mindless TV while hubs had a litle nap.
We have just had our ping pong games and I BEAT him hahahahahaha
Hope you are all having a great time today.
So nice of Tweety to pop in and say G'day.

Gooodddd -sunday here - moooorrrnnniiinnnnggg everyone

Another glorious spring day for us here today DH's outside whipper snipper-ing the lawns and mowing them. He's getting his chores all completed before leaving on tuesday!
We'll probably go for a drive to the valley later and pick up that blackberry wine at one of the wineries and then I'll make Sabby's blackberry wine cake!

Glad to read Tweety made it ok and has an Aussie for a travelling companion! He's bound to have a lot of laughs now! ENJOY!

Jnette .... you've prompted my memory about getting things in order. I've had it in mind for awhile but .... y'know how it is .... we always think we've got tomorrow! But ... not always so! We have our "stuff" in the metal two drawer filing cabinet, but I doubt that it's totally fireproof.

Glad you've had some "slothing" time in your PJ's, Sabby! We all deserve times like that.

Hi Joe, Di, zuzi, Steph, Kolohe...... EVERYONE!

Speaking of porridge, (oatmeal), I'd better skedaddle and have mine! Once DH's finished the mowing, we'll have a "brunch" of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes with toast and wash it down with fresh OJ! No better way to kick start a sunday ... apart from attending church of course!

Enjoy whatever it is you're doing and don't do anything I wouldn't enjoy!

Until next time ............... Cheers! :flowersfo

I didn't get much done today in regard to earning money; but I did spend a pile of it. I was on the phone with my oldest boy this morning and we "built" a laptop on Dell.com. About 90 minutes and $2500 later we had a hot-rod of a computer spec'd with a scheduled delivery date of 11/25.

Some people would be in trouble with the DW if they did this, but in this case she's been nagging me to get one. My existing computer is nearly 4 years old and is no longer under the extended warranty. The fan is also starting to make a terrible racket. She figures if I'm going to get one we need to do it this year because we need the Section 179 write-off for the business. (Uh-oh..... did I just let it slip that I'm one of those unpatriotic Americans who actually tries to reduce his tax burden by using "loopholes" in the tax code? mea culpa.... )

I took a picture tonight of something that most people don't see every day. It's a single blade off of a windturbine. Each windturbine requires 3 of these puppies. That's a full sized pickup parked beside it. You could buy a house for what a set of these things cost. Well....... not jnette or Sabby's house, but you could buy Steph's. (Speaking of Steph, here she is now. How did the wood cutting go? Any bumps or bruises?)

I'm here - munching on popcorn and sipping wine.

We had a good tiime - Danny took his .22 and spent most of his time target shooting. And Kolohe - You simply must cut down dead trees or you won't have firewood. It would be too green to use. He cut down one tree and we cut up the remains of some others that were recently cut. I split it. We both loaded it - actually I put it on the pickup bed and he stacked it as he can stack it in such a way to be very organized and get more wood on. I'm more haphazard.

We were all starving when we got back to town and I agreed to go to our local Frosty (where I never eat) and I actually ordered food! Chicken strips and French Fries.

Gotta get old Dan into the bath . ..

My dh is the packer of the family too!
Can make things fit together JUST SO, and fit so much more in a given space than I can!
I'm like you, Steph: haphazard!

Had a short rehearsal (mainly setting up ourselves [all 15 of us!] and instruments on a renovated stage area, at the TV station) and a visit with the Gathering Place Strummers and Singers. Was good.

Dh and I are home for the evening, and on our puters (the ones with *new* hard drive and *new* Windows 7! ).

Tomorrow we'll prolly go to a jam in Altadena, at the Coffee Gallery.
Jam is from 1230-1530, in the back room, if anyone cares to join in!

Later!

I hope Danny didn't spend the whole time target shooting. 8 isn't too young to pack wood. A little young to use an axe maybe. But I remember Grampa letting me split kindling in his basement when I was probably only 6 or 7. But he held onto the axe along with me....... and we probably didn't tell Mom. (Your mention the other night of your wood furnace reminded me of the wood furnace Grandpa and Grandma had in their basement. It brought back pleasant memories.)

I know you have to cut down dead trees for firewood....... if they haven't already been blown down. But getting them to the ground can be dangerous. I remember when I was going to show the boys how to use an axe I took them out into our woods and was going to fall a little dead wild cherry. I was demonstrating the safe use of the axe and had the boys stand back. But since it was just a little wild cherry tree I wasn't wearing my hard hat; just my baseball cap. With the first gentle swing the little 2.5 lb. boys axe barely made a mark on the dried brittle wood. So on my next swing I put a lot more effort behind it. I had just barely returned the axe for another swing when it felt like someone clubbed me. About 4 ft. of the top had broken out of that tree and landed right square on top of my head! The chunk of wood probably only weighed a pound or so, but by the time it fell 20 ft. it had pretty good speed. So back to the house I went for my hardhat AND my chainsaw; because that tree was coming down! I still showed the boys how to use an axe that day, but we did it on a tree that was in the horizontal position. Those kind are much safer to cut on.

We didn't wear hard hats . ...

And yes, Danny helped load. But after target shooting he dug up a little cedar tree and put it in a plastic soda bottle with dirt to plant here at home.
