Love seeing pics of that cutie pie Gavin!!!

Well it warmed up to 86 degrees here!
We did our usual church thing, had lunch at a little mexican restaurant nearby, just dh and I, as the kids had other plans.

Now we're chillin' on the puters.
Youngest just left w/friends to go to Joshua Tree.
Guess they'll camp there tonight.

Dh and I browsed thru a local coffee shop that oldest and his friends frequent.
They have a little back room they use for performances: a jazz group on Mondays, open mike on Wednesdays, a small Bible study on Tuesdays . . . diff't performances on the weekends, as scheduled.
May have to go check out the jazz group on Mondays.
Nice, relaxing place.
I got a de-caf there, and it was STRONG!!

Still struggling w/a puter virus.
It has hijacked Internet Explorer, so if I do a search and then click on my choice of websites found in the search, it redirects me to an ad of its choice.
Plus I get random full-page popup ads.
The malware would LOVE to totally crash my system!! (almost happened, once: it completely disabled Spyware Doctor!! Was able to turn system off HARD, and then rebooted and had McAfee do it's full scan to remove the offender)
I have Spyware Doctor and McAfee running full-tilt all the time since then, and they've been able to locate and quarantine some trojans but I still have problems.
What a pain this has been!!
A POX on whoever writes malware!!! :angryfire:
My home Technical Advisor Crew (my very own geeks, dh and youngest ds!) are helping me formulate strategies for The Next Step.

Y'all have a good one!

This family is kinda . . . . challenged. Plus I got to follow-up on her choking episode last night. No biggie.

I spent an hour catching up on paperwork at the office. Then took a walk at the track. The weather is so nice - gotta be close to 80 with a nice breeze and the clouds are bright white and look like feathers from this wind. Bright blue sky.

Just got a call from dh - he and Danny are on their way home and should be here in plenty of time for the Family Fun Night at our church.

Di - I never use Internet Explorer . . . we use Firefox.

Di.. I'm soooooooo sorry about the virus mess you're having to deal with.. what a pain indeed ! Hope you get this resolved soon and thoroughly !!! Glad you had a nice afternoon, though.

Steph, your weather (and Di's) sounds lovely... ours was just the opposite here today. Blech. Sounds like you had a pleasant and productive afternoon. Now go enjoy your evening with Danny !

Steph:
Dh and ds installed Firefox and experienced the same problem.
Nefarious virus indeed.

di, something similar happened to me a couple of wks ago.
this stupid virus pervaded my computer, out of the blue.
i did a search (from son's computer) and ended up downloading this recommended malware figher...www.malwarebytes.org.

i turned off computer and restarted in safe mode.

did a "system restore", which sets your computer to practically anytime before the virus came.
that alone helped enormously...along with downloading spyware doctor and malwarebytes.

have you rebooted in safe mode, and done system restore?

Thanks Leslie!
Dh says virus has effectively disabled ability to go to Safe Mode.

And I realize I sound like I'm whining.
I don't mean to be (I'm WAY beyond that, although I did my share of griping and gnashing of teeth at the beginning of the infestation and manifestations), just thought I'd post for informational purposes -- to warn others to keep all available virus protection enabled at all times!!

Cats are fed and happy.
Fred won't need his shot till 2000.

no, you're not whining at all, di.
these viruses are nightmares.

make certain to show your home tech advisors, my post.

esp about rebooting in safe mode;
downloading malwarebytes.org;
and "system restore" - every computer should have this function.

let me know how it goes.
i was soooo proud that i fixed it.
i mean- i.fixed.it.

Di - I didn't think another browser would fix it . . .. just that IE seems to be more vulnerable to those darn viruses.

Got called into the hospital for my pt with prostate cancer who was having increased pain so I increased his Dilaudid. I'll probably get another call tonight - he looks so very close. But, ya just never know.

The party started at 5 and goes to 7 . . my husband and son are about 1/2 hour away . . so he'll get at least 45 minutes to play all the games before we head out to trick or treat.

Will certainly show your post to my Advisors, Leslie!
Thank you again!
(and I have HUGE admiration for you, having fixed your puter problem yourSELF!! You Da GIRL!! )

I've been going thru my files and 'stuff' on the puter, weeding out things and consolidating keeper-stuff into one file so 'we' can reformat.

Might take a break and watch a DVD, though. . .

zuzi, trick-or-treaters have started, but we've not gotten a lot of them, compared to past years.
Of course, it COULD be that the little ones from years ago have grown up and no longer trick-or-treat!!! Ya think????
