Ok, what do you guys think? I'm 37 years old. I had 7 miscarriages until I have these two kiddo's that I have now, they are 3 years old, not twins but 7 months apart. Anyway, last year had irregular periods. Then went 3 whole months with full blown heavy bleeding, wearing the kids diapers as pads. I'm not exagerating either. Anyway got 3 days of IV progesterone. That has been exactly 1 year. Now, I have a period every 2-4 months. I have hot flashes, I know all about flipping the pillow around at night, libido??? what libido? and talk about losing hair, I have to use Drano on the drain every couple of weeks, my hair is thinning. I am adopted so I don't know family history. I have myself convinced it is premenapause??? What do you guys think?

(Oh, yeah, forgot about my thinning hair.......) Could very well be, but you need to report all your symptoms to your doctor. He or she can run some blood tests to help determine if it's perimenopause, but be aware that you can be well into it before your hormones take a measureable nosedive. I was having sx since my late 30s, but it wasn't until this year that my estrogen levels actually started heading south.

I told her about all my sx. That is why she did the thyroid test. I don't know that they could tell if they drew my hormone levels though, because it was drawn once when I was trying to get pregnant. I think it was 5. And that was 4 years ago.

Things have probably changed some since then. It would be worth it to have an FSH done, since (I'm assuming) the thyroid test was normal. I've been tested for that every year since I turned 40, and mine always turned out OK too.

Well I hate to be Mary Sunshine when you are all clearly suffering so. Take heart. It doesn't last forever. I recognized I was peri in my early 40'S. I stopped at age 50. Then I started hot flashes. Keep in mind
In about 5-8 minutes you will have forgotten it happened.
They are harmless.
They do not go on for the rest of your life.
As I said mine did not start until post menopause and then lasted no more than a year.
Everyone is different.

Between HRT and Paxil my symptoms have disappeared. However, eventually I will have to be weaned off of both. I worry what will happen. Right now I feel and look like a much younger woman.

I think I am premenopausal at 45...I have the hot flashes but usually limited to at work whereby I have sweat dripping onto patients even...and the patients feel sorry for me thinking I am the only nurse who is on duty. My mood is often times irritable and I have been craving carbs and sweets. My periods had been normal until the last one that lasted one week. So, I have been taking New Phase which is a herbal menopausal supplement and it does seem to be helping too...I notice when I have not taken it.

I had four miscarriages in my forties and have no living biological children. I dreaded menopause, but now I say, Bring it on!

Ijust wonder what I will do cause HRT won't be an option for me

Too great a cancer history in the family.

I dread this -----really. What I am reading here is none too encouraging, either. I am sorry for all your sufferings. Seems to me it is a rough time, mostly dealt with in taking pills and supplements. Hope a midwife will help me find a way to cope without these options open to me.
