For those who feel ready to move on.

It is obvious form reading the thread "what can we do to invigorate the board" That some members are still not ready to move on - no blame no shame. When the time is right you too will want to go on, don't push it, if you still have issues please stay with the other thread and talk it out.

BUT, there are those who DO want to move forward. Who feel uncomfortable - for any number of reasons with discussing the divivisness issue one more time. I have started this thread for them. Again no blame should be apportioned to those ready for the next step.

They are not "betraying a cause" neither are they " walking out on freinds" they are simply working through the issues step by step.

Does that mean that anyone who posts on this thread cannot post on the other one - no certainly not. In real life you have your "up" days and "down" days so here you might want to say something on this thread and then feel you have issues you need to discuss on the other thread.

This is about what to do next.

One of the issues we still have to deal with is to heal the rift between moderators and other members. To leave behind the "us and them" mindset. Does this make me/ us "crawlers" and "brown nosers" - NO!!! We just have to stop seeing them as "the enemy" and in particular jumping all over a moderator just because they have decided to post a reply. Debate with YES! trash? NO!

This is only one of a number of things we could do on this thread. Others include discussing how we could self moderate, What WE want the TOS to be for us, and exactly what constitutes "swearing" ( and THAT will be fun! We are from so many countries that our "bad language" will vary from person to person!) I have faith that we can debate that last issue without violating the TOS.

This is about the next step.

That has already been decided, Gwenith. We are not self-moderated here and TOS has been set and is firmly enforced. THAT is not up for debate, far as I can see. The best way to "Move on" if you will, is to enjoy each other and the new people who join us and deal with the fact that the TOS is set and abide by it. Or leave. Seems simple enough and not really, really debateable.

If no-one feels they want this thread it will die all by itself. What I posted were suggestions. Brian has said that this is not "his" board it is "our" board. So musch has been made of the TOS and how strict it is but if it is our board then we do have a say.

The problem is there are so many different people with different backgrounds. I have very thick skin from a long childhood and adolescence of people calling me names and being bullied. Nothing much gets me upset and I've yet to report anything to a moderator. I've always been able to deal with whatever negativity I've been involved in and come to some sort of truce if not understanding, or an agreement to disagree. But then again I'm thick skinned.

Others are so ultra-sensitive you say "boo" and they run to a moderator. Not criticizing, that's just who they are.

I've been on unmoderatored boards before and it gets ugly and stays ugly.

I think expecting a bb to be totally without conflict and rudeness is asking too much. But where the line is drawn between what is deleted and moderated and what is allowed to remain and dealt with is different for different people, and even different between different moderators.

Being nice and kind isn't all that hard, even when we are angry, even when we are disagreeing, even when someone isn't nice and angry to us. I'm not saying I'm nice and kind just saying it's easy. smile.

The new TOS does not say that we can not be ourselves, enjoy, laugh and get into controversial debates. I am enjoying the board and have to remind myself of the above photo and get on with it. Besides I am getting saddle sore from riding the fence, as I have always seen both (or all ) sides of this issue Looking forward to moving on.

Thank-you both this is just the kind of thoughtful post that I was hoping for. Some positivity not goodness and light 'cause I ain't that kinda gal but us discussing what we like and don't like - open free and without he said/she said and if I sound a little off there it is just because I have been up at the other thread and *cough* *cough* Hack* Hack* I am still gagging form the smoke and flames! Phew!!!

Carol, are you certain it was not your ISP or email provider that is having difficulties here? I am not aware of any changes regarding email subscription services.

Same here, aimeee. Carol, please elaborate if you need to as we are unsure what you are talking about. To our knowledge, no one has been dropped (and to be honest, I'm not sure what email list you're referencing .)
