I gotta love ya, micro! I'll try a spiritual forum out on Brian and see if he approves, okay?

I'm not as gungho about the spirituality in nursing forum...I think it might turn into one huge cat fight forum. I hope not, but it is more than a possibility.
I never have understood how people justify..well, many things, but in following context...unequal pay of the sexes. Pretty crappy, but not worth destroying the family over.

IF Brian did give you such a forum, think about who should moderate this forum. You will need a volunteer or two, and I am NOT volunteering for that one!!!

Whoever would have that job should be able to be non-judgemental, very non-judgemental!

Renee -

About if this thread has changed directions.... I agree with you. For one thing, I only started this thread because I couldn't (for some unknown reason) post to the original "thought provoking email" thread.

Also, I don't think that just because somebody started a thread, that she owns it, or should feel free to try to "drive" it. I like the way these threads go. I think it's very organic and conversational, and I LIKE it!

Jenny P - I had just turned 12 when my mum died. I was the oldest of 6 kids and we just stayed together as long as we could and I took care of everybody and everything. Needless to say, we're all completely screwed up.

Part of my problems back then was that women didn't work, and day care didn't exist. Well, I was in junior high school with a 2 year old to take care of! When we had a housekeeper, it was okay, but it's not so easy. You don't find people who can keep house and help deal with that many kids. At least not NORMAL people, that's for sure. So the women's movement with the emphasis on making life as easy for women as it was for men really rang my chimes!

I still think that men have it way easier than women do. You hear about people who have sex-change operations who describe themselves as a "woman trapped in a man's body." Wow - they make more money, they don't have the household responsibilities, they don't have the health problems, they have women to take care of them!!! If *I* were trapped in a man's body, I'd feel like I'd gotten away with something BIGTIME!

Funny old thing, life.

Love

My feelings on this is thread is that it is like life-- it may travel many directions; but would be difficult or impossible to travel without a belief in God (or a "higher power" or whatever).

Life has dealt many of us strange hands; sometimes I wonder where I'd be if I didn't believe in God. I HAVE to believe that there is a heaven, because if this is all there is, it would be awful depressing.

NurseDennie: I agree that this thread's change of topics is "A-Okay" with me. I had NO objections to that. Don't know why you think that I did??? Anyway, it wasn't ME who had a problem with your thread changing, if you'll read MICRO's post above mine, you'll notice that it was HER post that had the objection. I was simply explaining to her that you originally started the post talking on religion so WHY was she complaining about the change of topics all of a sudden??? [see MICRO's post #27]

Hi Renee -

I didn't think you had a problem with the thread changing. Read my post #34 again. I was answering you (#29) as to if I thought the thread had changed from what I'd started. #34 started out with two paragraphs agreeing with you. =-) (I like my own smiley).

I only started the thread because I couldn't post to the old one, and that thread was all about EVERYTHING. And the second paragraph was me saying that even if it had changed, that was cool for me.

So cool of Brian to think about numbering the posts like this. Did you notice if you click on the post number, it makes a new page that you can hyperlink to or anything like that. This carries on being the best BB on the net.

Sorry for the double postings above (#35 & 36); it seems that the BB was acting crazy at the time and told me I hadn't posted; then told me I had double posted!

Dennie, WHOA! You are SO into these high tech things! You've got your webpage, your own smiley, and even know about hyperlinks!!!!!! I am amazed! Me, I can't even put an avator up! I did read how, I just can't decide on a good one! LOL

Hi Jenny -

Those double postings happen from time to time. I guess it's sunspots. Or maybe all the ATOMS in the air now-a-days, I dunno.

I'm not so hightech. Not anymore. I was a computer science major in my olden days and my other career was in computers. I was systems manager last couple of jobs before I was a nurse, and that was a Looooonnnnnnnggg time ago in computer years.
