Yesterday's Victories have no National Significance

I'm tired of hearing the BS, "Oh, this election showed us that people have had enough of high taxes!", or "Look, Democrats are going to gain all the house seats now!". Wrong! The election yesterday told us three things:

1. The people of Virgina decided to vote for a decent candidate instead of a terrible one.

2. The people of New Jersey took the out the trash, and voted one of the worst governors the state has ever seen out of office.

3. The people of New York reminded that world that Americans are still too stupid to even consider a third party candidate, even if the polar opposite candidate from the opposing party will win (in this case, I think it worked out for the better).

I have to agree that the NJ governor was a terrible one. I don't live there but I am soooo glad to see him gone.

Neither Teflon Tim Pawlenty nor Sarah Palin did the NY congressional third party candidate any favors...The GOP lost a seat that they have held since the 19th century.....

(Timmy has ran the MN GOP into the ditch...)

What's her name dropped out, backed the Democrat and the liberal (RINO) Republicans voted for the Democrat . . . . Mr. Hoffman got 45.2% . . that is pretty darn good.

She kinda flipped the middle finger to the GOP. She needs to just switch to a liberal Dem.

And I disagree - yesterday DID have National Significance.

Remember conservatives - today email your congressperson, politely . . . people are roaming the halls of Congress right now saying:

JUST SAY NO TO OBAMACARE.

KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY HEALTHCARE.

I remember Americans For Prosperity, under a previous name, working with Phillip Morris tobacco.

Last summer an Americans for Prosperity speaker compared healthcare reform to the Holocaust and stated it has “end of life orders” in the bill. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC65hipGB_E

Teflon Tim? Good one, Vike!

I don't think he was as bad a governor as some have been, although when I was teaching, I was well aware that he was no friend to higher education. When tuitions were rising at Minnesota public colleges, T-Paw tried to blame the professors. I believe he made comments about the increasing costs of education being due to professors assigning so many expensive textbooks. True---textbooks are expensive. But to try to boil the problems down to one cause was simplistic and wrong.

Re: the national significance of the elections, I don't necessarily see any of the elections as referendums on the Obama presidency, positive or negative. Frankly, I don't vote for someone based on the political party of the current President. I vote for the person I feel is most qualified, can do the best job, and whose stance on the issues is most in step with my own. I have voted for Democrats, Republicans and Independents; rarely have I ever voted a straight party ticket.

Still LOL over the Teflon Tim remark. The guy has the personality of three-day-old lutefisk.

That's not exactly true. This link from Wikipedia would diffuse that statement.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Yor...ional_district Scroll down to see who's represented the district and what parties they were from. (Some were later designated to different districts, but the GOP hasn't been the sole party in office there.

For Dede Scozzafava, it was noted
That she, though certainly a high achiever,
Was not, in fact, a zealous true believer.
If any of the canon caused her doubt,
That justified their push to throw her out.
All commissars need neither rhyme nor reason.
They know that deviation's always treason.

The GOP blew it by forcing her out. Her husband was a labor union member and more than likely a proverbial Reagan Democrat. Whether you agree or disagree with her moderate stances on gay rights or abortion the Republican party needs moderates just as much if not more so than the Democratic party.

Without moderates to mediate How can the ends work together to get anything done?
