I work medical case management, not worker's comp, so I suggest that you post your inquiry in the Case Management forum and obtain info from the nurses who work in that arena. I also suggest that you word that inquiry in a manner in which the readers do not feel as insulted as I do. Nobody appreciates the implication that they are "the bad guy."

Case Management involves much more than finding reasons to deny claims, help the company to make money, and make lives worse. I suggest a Google search so that you can learn more about this area of nursing.

If you have any questions that I can answer that are not attached to an insult, or a negative implication about my professional integrity, please feel free to ask.

At the end of the day, Case Managers are still RNs, and the last time I checked, patient advocacy is integral to that role.

And yes, I help every person I speak with.

    Hello,
I noticed that you work in insurance based case management and I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I love being a nurse and I love taking care of people but I can not do acute care much longer. I have a friend who does workers comp case management but she isn't a nurse. She said she could probably get me a job in there nursing dept but im worried that I will turn into the bad guy. I know the insurance company wants to make money and I just want to know If my responsibility will searching for ways to decline claims. I want to continue helping people not make there life worse. Can you tell me if you feel like your still helping people. Does that make sense?
    Thanks so much,
    Melanie
