The canard VLV was applauding was both untrue of me and more hurtful because she and I have already discussed why I take it personally. When you are spewing out blanket insults, you are insulting me.

What I said is that the know-nothing attitude is not a survival trait ... the last quoted paragraph explains why.

And insisting on having whatever we want, cheap and regardless of the harm it does is stupid. So is smoking, driving recklessly, shooting heroin and cutting off your nose to spite your face.

If VLV is insisting that environmentalists are just "enviro-thugs" without looking at the evidence supporting what they're saying ... that's willful ignorance. Only she knows whether she really looked at any evidence at all ... no way to tell from her post.

And I didn't ask that anyone stop posting their own opinions ... just lay off the indiscriminate name-calling.
I didn't want to get into politics, but this is one of the reasons I got away from liberalism some years ago, when I figured out that playing the victim and looking for insults where none are intended wasn't the way I wanted to live. But enough about that.

A person using a quote from a link to another publication does not equal name-calling, no matter how you slice it. Besides, how do you know what "evidence" for your environmental concerns anyone else has read or not read? How do you know how VLV or anyone else forms their opnions? Maybe she has a valid, scientific reason for her reasoning and maybe not, but it looks to me like the one doing the indiscriminate name-calling here is you.

I don't want to go against the terms of service, so I'll have to shut up now.

Have a nice day.

Once again, you didn't bother to read the post ... I said I had no idea whether she looked at the evidence or not ... the only thing she posted was the slam, no exposition, no line of reasoning ... just an applauding smiley with no explanation of how applauding a nasty name does not constitute agreeing with it.

And if it's not an insult, then you won't mind if I call you a thug next time we disagree?

And I'm having a great day, thanks.

.
I think she was applauding me for linking her to the article.

"Steph........you ROCK!!!"

The truth is there is a part of the environmental movement that is questionable and Marla and I are on the same page with that and so I found that article to be so very funny when it comes to showing how ridiculous SOME in the far far left enviro movement can be.

And so I posted it for Marla.

The "enviro-thuggery" is from the link I placed . . . .and after reading that can folks see how we might not be very happy with some of the things we are being mandated to do?

Even if you can't . . I really think the clapping was for me and the term folks are upset about was in the article.

I hate that song too. It just seemed - somehow - appropriate.

There are lots of interesting stories, if you look.

According to theNewspaper.com . . .

Unsurprisingly, people in the Washington , D.C. area are driving less. Buying less gas. But guess what? Gas tax revenues are falling and that is causing some problems. Regional officials want to implement a "mileage tax." Instead of taxing gas, they'd tax every mile driven. Vehicles would be fitted with a GPS-type transponder to record vehicle type, distance traveled, and time and location of travel - in essence, converting every local street into a toll road.

Liberty-infringing? Heck yeah! :angryfire

Brookings Institution reports the transponder scheme would increase revenues tenfold in D.D., from 420 million a year to $4.79 billion.

So . . . there is one story . .. I can find more.
