Have you met Timothy yet here on AN? You two are going to get along like two peas in a pod. :wink2: I don't think things look too good for Repubs in 2012 for the mere fact that the candidates waiting in the wings aren't electable. McCain was the strongest candidate you had, sadly. Palin? Don't even get me started on her. She's a self-destructing mess. There are many more Democrats in this country and that's not going to help either.

The independents may decide it. We'll see.

2012 is three years away. Obama was an unknown three years before he started campaigning. At the time, big names in the Dem party didn't think he was electable.

This last election was there for the Dems to lose; not so much because they brought a better product, but because the Repubs were so unpopular. The reality is that the Dem win should've been much larger...and in 2012, he won't be able to blame the 'last four years' on President Bush...especially if he continues to do it for the next four years like he seems as though he wants to do. People will get tired of it.

There are many electable candidates other than Obama. In fact, the only way I see him winning a second term is if another Ross Perot comes along.

And the presence of "more democrats" doesn't matter if democrats are going to push the voters down and crap on their heads while stealing their wallets. BTW, I am not a republican.

The reality is that Palin as the 'self-destructing mess' as you improperly labeled her is the only reason I think that McCain was able to make the race competitive.

Well... If we want to be truly honset there really was no 'Republican' in the race.

Like Timothy was so happy to point out.

The last election was really between 2 Democrats.

Which explains the lack of a major difference in the popular vote.

Also, not ALL of the Republican candidates are horrible. Palin was for sure but the Republicans had some good people. Shrug.

The Republican would have done MUCH better had they allowed someone else to run.

Gingrich warns of third party in 2012

Wow! The irony.

I've enjoyed your posts H&S, regardless of how things may seem.

Right now there is no choice.

Do I pick party A that's morally bankrupt or party B that's fiscally bankrupt?

Why does it have to be either or?

I know! But since you threw the mention of a third party out there I went with it.

Speaking of Ross Perot... Isn't he a self made billionaire?

Why don't we have those kind of people as Treasury Secretary???

It just seems soooo obvious...

We've been blue/gray, east/west, boxers/briefs or dog/cat for so long now - it's almost hard to imagine a viable third party.

Libertarians the exeption.
