How will Obama explain this one away, bowing to the emporer of Japan? LAst time he bowed to the King od Saudia Arabia and he said he did not bow but was reching down to shake his hand...how about this time?

American Presidents NEVER bow to other heads of state and espicially to royalty. The white house protocol office should know this.

He is going to surrender sovereignty to Japan. I heard that behind closed doors he humbly apologized for Hiroshima and begged the Emperor to forgive him. It was pretty pathetic, apparently Obama started weeping like school girl.

You can make fun of it of you want, but at that level of politics appearance is everything. You do not show submission like that, it shows that you are weak.

Japanese people bow like we shake hands.
I escourted a tour of Japanese nurses at my hospital. I was instructed to bow when they did.
Every introduction was accompanied by a bow.

But you are not a head of state. MAJOR DIFFRERENCE, and I also have been to japan many times and am aware of the bowing ritual.

With all the other tragedy in the world, I really don't care whether or not he bows to the Emperor of Japan or not.

Not just a bow....but, a deep "apologetic" bow. For what? Very inappropriate. But, I'll give Obama a pass, I guess......I never thought he was prepared for this job in the first place.

I think you're being petty...just my opinion.

Looking ridiculous (and weak) has nothing to do with manners.
