History's going to be kind to "W" - he kept us safe for 8 long years after 9/11. He had common sense in dealing with international and homeland crazies who are hell-bent on destroying us. I cringe to think what Obama would have done in the same circumstances or if he and his administration will keep us safe as we tread very treacherous waters. Heck, he won't even admit that the events at Ft. Hood were another jihadist act of terrorism on our own soil. When Obama entered office, I tried to keep an open mind and give him the benefit of the doubt. I knew he was either going to be another remarkable JFK or just another sad one-term Jimmy Carter. Unfortunately, I see the latter is now the case. In fact, Obama is another Jimmy Carter on steroids. I just hope our nation can survive the four years under Obama without suffering irreparable harm. Will we even recognize our nation in ten years if Obama and his leftist cronies get their way?

i have to tell you, i found this article way too dramatic and syrupy for my taste...
and i mean that in a most non-partisan way.
it just struck me as almost, idol worship- which i just cannot relate to.

maybe allowing more realistic input, would have deemed it more rational.
but as it is, the article is frighteningly surreal.

I think it was very kind of Mr. and Mrs. Bush to visit the families at Ft. Hood.

But it doesn't negate the previous 8 years in any way.

There are lots of us who will never forget what Mr. Bush did for this country in the wake of 9/11 and it has nothing to do with a *******' bullhorn. If only he had stopped there....

I agree w/the writer that it was a nice thing for the Bushes to do. And it was nice that the author vowed to never speak badly of the family on a personal level and will call out others who would do so.

I would guess a majority of those who hold ill will towards the actions of the Bush administration and the policies that emerged from within it have plenty of negative things to say without ever veering into the territory of their personal lives. I hadn't realized any demonization of them at a personal level was so widespread.

Interesting to note the general omission of response to what the author made a point to say---

"Criticize their policies academically and intelligently and discuss the Bush presidency in historical and political terms…but you mess with the Bushes personally and, from this day forward, you’ll answer to us."

Fair enough---I wish they'd also included their thoughts on other issues beyond the personal in regard to "Bush" and whether any earlier opinions or judgements had changed at all there, as well.

Also, ABOLUTELY ridiculous to suggest the Obama's should or could have done the same thing by visiting victims. It would be entirely inappropriate had he/they done so and I'm decidely convinced the indignant criticisms to be shared had he done so would have been multiple-page thread-worthy here and elsewhere.....

Idol worship is alive and well, with our current President. The media can't get enough of him, and frankly, I think he not only grooves in it, but seeks it out at every opportunity. JMHO.
