When the Dems have the numbers to vote anything or everything in, to say the others aren't willing to play seems, well, just another excuse for it being a really bad bill to me. Luckily, some of the Dems also see this and aren't willing to play, or maybe they are rightfully afraid of what will happen when the voters go to the polls next year. In any case, from the beginning of this new Administration, they have had the number. Please do not blame the conservatives who disagree, because in the end, it doesn't matter if they do. They cannot out vote the Dems; if the Dems vote as a block.

That is a very tired excuse for what's going on, IMHO.

Who said I was blaming conservatives? In order to be bi-partisan, it takes both sides to agree I thought I was making it clear that each side was only out to win. I used the death panels as an example of how low one side was willing to go to score for their team but I was not making excuses for anyone.

Perhaps you were not blaming conservatives, but plenty of others have, and have used the death panel issue as the reason nothing yet has been done, and the reason why this bill is facing opposition. Even if the death panel is used as an argument, whether or not it is a valid one, the Dems still do not need Republican votes...which tell me that not all of them are on board, although they do not want to take the responsibility for killing it themselves. They want and need someone else to blame.

I think, and hope, the electorate is smarter than that.

Well one thing we learned from the death panel controversy is that they are not smarter than that.

Obviously the democrats have some issues as evidenced by a lack of total votes and lack of unity. It's a very controversal and expensive package. It's still very clear that the overwhelming amount of opposition is Republican.

As long as some sort of reform happens and work is done to improve things, I don't care where it comes from. Just don't throw it in the garbage can and hope it goes away like what happened in past. Move forward.
