It's both, and you know it. Anyway...
We are literally the only first world country without a public health care plan.
Think about that for a second. Obama is trying to do the right thing by bringing us up to date with the rest of the world, but the vast majority of people in this country are too stupid to accept it, or do even a small amount of research.

It's so convenient to blame Hannity or Rush because they oppose Obama's plan, which is their right by the way, when they never even brought up this silly rumor. Here's an thought, maybe the White House is secretly spreading these stupid rumors to make it look like anyone who opposes their views look like the guilty party. Here's another idea, please report me for my "disinformation".

Don't hold your breath.
As to the idea that the White House is "secretly" spreading the rumors, yes, I'm sure that they are working, in secret, with Palin and co.
The fact is that health care reform MUST happen. To leave things as they are would be fiscal suicide, although the health care insurance industry would love to see things remain unchanged, because they are raking in huge profits. Rather than spend all the time and effort to denigrate the Democrats ideas, the Republicans should be coming up with their own ideas, I haven't heard any yet. Hannity, Rush and co. have plenty of air time available to present viable alternatives, but they choose to spend that resource attacking the Dems. And, btw, I listen to these guys daily, and they are quite happy to allow the rumors to go unchallenged, and imply that Obama wants to "pull the plug on Granny".
Knowing that something is false, and refusing to challenge it, is just as bad as spreading the falsehoods yourself.

Re: Has Obama gone too far?
The first thing that come to mind for me is how much basic and preventitive care for the uninsured and poor could save us in medical expenses in the long run. So many of the patients I see have chronic illnesses that they just can't manage well due to lack of funds and coverage.

Re: Has Obama gone too far?
And as to the discussions about the public option, all I hear is that it will create "unfair" competition for the private insurance industry. Well, if that is true, then doesn't that tell you something? If government can provide health care for LESS than private industry, what is wrong with that? Are insurance companies somehow enititled to their profits?
When you watch all these town hall meetings, with the screamers and the yellers overshouting everyone else, ask yourself...how many seniors today are screaming and yelling about their Medicare? Last I heard, that was a government-run program. So, it's not working out?
