If someone chooses not to have health care insurance even though they could afford it (give up the fancy cars, nails, smokes etc.) and then when they need care, they choose a less expensive alternative (going out of the country.) That is a choice they have made and made work for them. I see no problem with that whatsoever. Those folks have made a decision, and are acting responsibly when their situation changes.

The thing is, people in other first world countries look at people with viewpoints such as this and laugh. Carry on with your 19th century viewpoints and not caring about your fellow American. This mentality only helps China get there faster.

First of all, I really don't give a rat's patoutie what the rest of the world thinks about America. Many of them still want to come here so it can't be that bad of a place to live, to prosper, to climb the ladder, so to speak (and in some countries you are born into whatever you get: period, no ladder to climb.)

Secondly, I clearly have said, "fix the part that is broken," just leave the parts that are working fine alone. That would include my own personal insurance coverage. I'm happy with it. We are happy with it. I don't want the government to become the owner of my medical records. If you and others are happy with that, then feel free; but I am not comfortable with that.

As it is right now, if I become unhappy with my insurance coverage, I could go elsewhere: do some research, choose and pay for a plan that I liked better. I'm not locked into anything.

Pretty short sighted when a foreign automaker chooses Canada over the US to put a car plant because they don't want to pay exorbitant health care costs for the workers.

I agree with Suesquatch, he hasn't gone far enough. He should go far, far away.

So I can assume all those reports that the Swine flu vaccine won't be available in the USA until October on US National Television are lies, and they are available at all clinics nationwide?

National health insurance will not fix all our problems but it will fix a broken health care system that is in dire need of repair.
Thanks for this recommendation - I took it out of the library tonight. Surprised to see that the first opposers of any kind of organized health care were physician groups themselves. I'm only about 20 pages in.

Thanks for the book lead
