What an adorable dog - but all I can think of is all that hair and the mess he will make in the house.

The mess, maybe, but he's a non-shedder, so hair won't be a problem.

I think they're going to have a hard time finding a Portugese Water Dog at the pound, though, as they originally planned to do.

Im thinking one will mysteriously show up at the pound after the girl's spring break.. Yep, this guy doesn't shed at all.

Well, I've also heard that that's what Michelle's said (in a People mag article -- she's on the cover of the next issue), and that she is only one vote among 4.

Maybe not in a shelter, but there are rescue organizations for all kinds of breeds these days...

And, one of the sad fall outs of the economy downturn is that people are either giving up their pets b/c they can't afford to feed them and themselves, and/or they've been kicked out of their home and the dog gets abandoned in it...

In some ways, it's too bad that the girls won't be able to get a puppy -- apparently Ted Kennedy has (and strongly advocated for) the Portuguese Water Dog. Would be kind of cool to get a puppy from Uncle Teddy.

I am pathetic -- I know way too much trivia about the Obamas (I've even taken to following a blog that looks at/talks about/critiques Michelle Obama's fashion! )

Woof!

They're non-allergenic woofs. And getting a grown dog is a great plan if you don't have time to housebreak. I'm sure Michelle could fit it in, though, no?
