Obama as a Leader

by Tweety Platinum Member

There verdict is still out:

The fashionable critique of President Obama is that we don't really know who he is yet: That somehow, the eloquent and often-inspiring candidate of the campaign has yet to morph into anything resembling a memorable -- much less transformational -- president.

The verdict is only still out on the Communist News Network (CNN).

The rest of us are already painfully aware that this President is an Epic Failure.

But then. Some of us knew all along that socialism fails, EVERY TIME IT'S TRIED.

Howdy, Tweety, long time no chat.

Here's a comment at the link:

"Obama is long past the tipping point. Last year's election was a repudiation of Bush and the RINO McCain. It was not an endorsement of a radical left-wing agenda. Obama said he was going to cut the deficit. He has exploded it starting with a pork laden monstrosity mislabeled as 'stimulus.' Now he is jamming a massive new entitlement down our throats. For people such as myself, we will likely lose our healthcare benefits currently paid by our employers. Now Eric "Americans are cowards" Holder has just given constitutional rights and a worldwide bully pulpit to jihadists. And he is talking about a massive illegal immigration amnesty. No, Gloria, he isn't at a tipping point, he is way past that point. Talk with average Americans (or mouth breathing troglodytes as you members of the elite media refer to us) and you will see anger. Keep belittling us as 'teabaggers' - the media/Obama/Holder have found a way to make the GOP look desirable."

I'd like to say I missed you, but there are too many conservatives present in your absence. LOL

There were many, too many, yourself included, that did a complete and total rejection of the President from the get go, or after only a month or two and haven't let up since.

I do like the idea that after a year it's time perhaps to stop and review.

(Funny he forgets the 700 billion bailout Mr. Bush authorized, and the billions he spent on the war and the deficit he started. But that's tit for tat)

The "average American" I live amongst doesn't really buy into this exaggerated interpretation of the world.

I gave Obama a chance to succeed or fail. I have tried to find ONE success of his. If you can find one let me know.

He promised unemployment wouldn't go above 8% with the stimulus package......that failed.

He promised he would stop home foreclosures......in my city..Miami...that has failed.

He promised to end the war in Iraq. That has failed

Please, tell me where he has succeeded with any domestic agenda policy.

I do believe he succeeded in apologizing to the rest of the world for the "bad behavior" of the United States. At the same time, he alienated our old allies.

When I say "God Help Us".....I really mean it with Obama in charge. At least with Bush in charge I could feel safe at night when I slept. Not a huge Bush fan for the record.

You actually listen to campaign promises??? j/k

I'm not going to waste too much effort defending him, because frankly I'm a disappointed myself. If you're looking for one area of domestic policy that's a success look at hate crimes. His successes have been in smaller arenas. Also, it's very well documented that stimulus money has created and saved jobs here in FL....(yes, I'm aware of the unemployment rate).

Granted now huge policies have been initiated and successful but that's because of opposition.

The economy is bouncing back and hopefully the devastating unemployment rate will slowly rise. I'll take what good news I can get on that front. Personally, my 401K is recovered from the final Bush year and while I'm still very very concerned I'll be in poverty when I retire, I feel better. There's a glimmer of hope on the unemployment line too: http://money.cnn.com/2009/11/25/news...aims/index.htm

I don't think he's alienated our old allies. Those relationships have always been love-hate, especially with countries like France and Germany, but at the end of the day they are rock solid. I like how he acknowledges that America isn't the almighty anymore...something many die-hard Americans are having trouble accepting. I like how he's seeking relationships with India this week, because India is going to be very very important to us in the years to come as they become a major economic power in the world. Things are shifting globably and I like his vision. Domestically........as I said, the verdict is out. I'm rarely happy with whatever President is in office because our problems are immense. But I do still feel safe at night.

I can honestly say that I don't feel any worse about things that I did a year ago, not too much better, but definitely not as bad as I felt a year ago this time. Prior to his election it wasn't all pretty.
