…In February, the new administration disappointingly followed the example of the Bush White House in opposing judicial review for prisoners who have been indefinitely detained at Bagram without any charges or access to lawyers.
The administration has now added to that disappointment by appealing a new federal court ruling extending the right of habeas corpus to some Bagram detainees. …

Try 30...and it doesn't matter if it were only one.

I seem to remember single-person examples being used as examples of judicial abuse...Padilla.

Still want to use the "whopping three people" defense?

And habeas corpus will be extended to the Bagram detainees as a US held military base for all intents and purposes is US soil and subject to the jurisdiction of the federal courts...

Obama doesn't get credit for that; a Rhenquist/Roberts appointee submitted that ruling, which the Obama admin opposes.

And THAT is what I disagree with. Bagram is on foreign land and not US soil. Though I will admit that I did not know they were diverting people there to get AROUND Gitmo...

Seems as though there is some disagreement about a military base being "US Soil."

Sure, we control it but it's not the same as Gitmo. We were given the land in Gitmo the same as the Panama Canal(in the past) and embassy land.

We are only temporarily occupying Bagram... Unless we are planning on staying there...

GITMO is a lease.

So is the Bagram military base.
