"Pigeon hole" is a mathematical idea.

Example. Say you have 10 red socks and 18 green socks in a sack. How many do you have to pull out to have a pair?
Three or fewer. If you get a green one and then a red one then the third will complete a pair.

If you have three pigeons two or more will be the same gender.

Mathematics can be infuriating and fascinating.
