I just found this - it says it all for me. It could be me. Except I'm a white woman. But I've been listening to Rush for over 20 years too. I've never heard racist remarks - not politically correct and sometimes pushing the edge of being tasteless, yes. But then can anyone say they've never made a tasteless remark? And seriously, if people can post things from the side that hates him, what is wrong with me posting things from those who don't? (Just jumping on the "Oh that's just a conservative blog" comments bound to happen).

http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/..._racist_a.html

"I have been a faithful Rush Limbaugh radio show listener for almost 20 years. I have never heard Rush make one racist comment. As a matter of fact, I am a black man who has been inspired and encouraged by Rush on numerous occasions. Rush is part of a partnership bidding to purchase an NFL football team. I am highly offended watching the liberal media's all out assault on this great American. In their efforts to block Rush from ownership of a team, the liberal media and the Left are attempting to brand Rush as a racist. . .. "

Well, I did say he might have undergone a conversion of morals. It's been known to happen.

I was listening to him back in the middle 90's ... an almost daily theme on his show at the time was a riff on Carol Mosely Braun ... he'd play "Movin' on Up" - the theme song of a Black comedy ... while reporting on the congresswoman's daily actions like a supermarket tabloid.

I'm white too, btw ... Canuck dairy farmers on the mom's side and West Virginia hill-billies on the dad's.

Trouble is ... when he mocked working class and underclass African Americans, he was mocking my son.

I tend to take that personally ... so I left the program alone after that.

We heard very different things, I guess.

I was listening then too . . . . and didn't hear it the same as you did so you are right.

Rush uses satire to point out things.

I am looking forward to hearing what he has to say today - his show starts in about 40 minutes and I've got to get ready for work so I'm gonna have to leave all you nice folks! See ya later.

What bothers me almost as much as what Rush says, is how he comes across as so self-important, so stuck on himself. That's so not cool.

That is part of the satire . . he says that in the interview with Jamie.

"Talent on loan, from God" . . . is really just thanking God for all the blessings God has given him.

He does it to tweek folks. Sorta like SNL.

If he really wants to thank God for his talents/blessings, he could use them to promote peace and understanding.

At least SNL doesn't purport to put God's name with anything they do.

No, . . . .I can't believe this is still happening today. Those comments are lies or taken out of context. If you read the links I posted, you will see that this comment was never said by Rush: : “One of the quotes that has been attributed to Rush Limbaugh is the one about him saying that ‘slavery built the South, and I’m not saying that we should bring it back.. I’m just saying that it had it’s merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.”

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matthew...nt-retract-use

This was debunked already. It should not be repeated as if it were true.

The other comments were taken out of context.

Church lady? I could come up with any number of skits making fun of people who believe in God or skits about religions but I've got to go to work.

Please note: I didn't say they didn't do it. I just said they didn't purport to be Christians while they do.

PS - Where have I heard before that 'but they do it too' isn't a really good argument?

I'm leaving this debate.
