Rush Limbaugh

by sirI Staff

This might be music to the Reverend Al Sharpton's ears: ESPN reports, "Rush Limbaugh is expected to be dropped from a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams, according to three NFL sources."

Further, "Dave Checketts, chairman of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and the point man in the Limbaugh group attempting to buy the Rams, realizes he must remove the controversial conservative radio host from his potential role as a minority member in the group in order to get approval from other NFL owners, the sources said."

However, Limbaugh said on his radio show today, "I'm not even thinking of exiting. I'm not even thinking of caving. I am not a...

I am probably out of the loop, but why is Sharpton bothered because Limbaugh wants to be a part owner of the Rams? Who really cares? (Except for Sharpton, who is a bit of blowhard himself?)

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson attacked the bid by Rush Limbaugh to buy the St. Louis Rams on Monday, saying the conservative radio host's track record on race should exclude him from owning an NFL team.

Sharpton sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell , arguing that Limbaugh has been divisive and "anti-NFL" in some of his comments.

Jackson said in a telephone interview that Limbaugh had made his wealth "appealing to the fears of whites" with an unending line of insults against blacks and other minorities.

I lived in St Louis for 10 months. Without going into detail, I totally understand why he shouldn't be a part owner of the St Louis Rams.

I see now. Because Al Sharpton AND Jesse Jackson say something is so, it's so. Right.

No.

1) St Louis is 51% African American

2) Rush Limbaugh frequently makes devisive comments on race. (comment on NBC Nightly News)

Put two and two together.

Okay, Rush maybe a detestable sort to some. Sharpton and Jackson are detestable (to me) because they show up at every incident and throw the race card. creating a bigger problem than there really was in the first place.... It's a bad habit of theirs. We are supposedly all about diversity, but if that's the case, then how can Rush, or anybody else, be uninvited? And if St. Louis is 51% black, then adding Rush to the owners increases the diversity, does it not? I guess you just can't have it both ways. You can't cry wolf and then complain when someone else does the same.

Frankly, I don't take my leadership from either Sharpton or Jackson. Nor do I care much about football, so it makes little difference to me who "owns" the team.

However, given Limbaugh's oft-voiced attitudes toward the struggles of African Americans, I can see why an AA player would prefer not to be working for the dude.

This'll get interesting ... :msk::wshgrt: :yeahthat::rollfftopic::deadhorse

OK, then think economics. How many African Americans are going to cancel their season tickets? How many AA NFL players who are currently playing for the Rams going to jump ship?

Not a good business decision.
