Senate moves health bill forward.

by GCTMT

60-39.. The bill is going forward. So much for it being "dead on arrival".

I just watched it on C-SPAN.

DH watched with me. He said, "This is boring."
I hope 100 senators give their best speech.

Make amendments.
And eventually vote.

The only reason it was not dead on arrival is that they had to bribe Landrieu with 300 million in federal spending to get her vote. That woman should be thrown out of office for ...wait don't worry..american voters will throw them all out of office for voting for this fiasco that the majority of americans do NOT want.

Maybe not dead, but certainly moribund.

Actually the polls show strong support for a public option....This vote was a vote to proceed for debate on the floor of the senate.

Getting to debate is a step forward for democracy and allowing us as citizens to move reform forward through the process....

I know - everything I've been reading (and no folks - not on Fox News) has been trending towards folks NOT liking the public option.

It is the coasts that kill us as they are most liberal and have the most population. It is hard here in rural farming and logging country . . . California's coast votes liberal and forgets that their dumb ideas might work in the city but don't work out here. One of the reasons The State Of Jefferson idea never completely dies.

Oregon is pretty much the same, Steph. Portland is so self-absorbed that it thinks nothing that happens outside city limits is important, Eugene is full of tree-huggers, and Salem is home to the state's largest populations of criminals and mental patients........otherwise known as the State Legislature :chuckle

IOW, most of the population is centered near the I-5 corridor up and down the Willametter Valley, and it skews liberal in a big way, which is bad news for the coastal and eastern parts of the state, as well as the rural Willamette and Umpqua Valley areas. It never ceases to amaze me how bureaucrats chained to desks in Salem can make decisions for the vast majority of the state, but they do it all the time, and the rest of us just have to live with it. ~sigh~
