State of the Nation

by Elvish Staff

Just wondering what you all thought of it, or if you even watched it.

I am glad, for one, that we have a president that can put together complete sentences without making up words along the way.

My favorite line: "Nobody messes with Joe."

I thought I heard some too. Tasteless, if that's indeed what it was.

undoubtedly it was a response to the figurehead in favor of health care reform. I think that Pres. Obama hit a home run.

I'd call it a home run, too.
Jindal's follow up was just weird.

I'd agree our President is pretty bad ---, but Jindal... invoking Katrina.. just bad. It seemed like an uncomfortable jingle.

My favorite descriptor of Jindal's style was a wierd Mr. Rogers with his sing-songy way of speaking.

I couldn't watch him, the voice was making me crazy.

Obama I thought did a good job, it was a good balance of tough talk and inspiring oration, with more specifics and details that other times. I think he did a great job w/the speech, now we'll see how it all moves forward.

I am not happy about the pushed back time line for withdrawal from Iraq.

Odd that Governor Jindal said that the lack of response to Katrina proves you cannot trust Government.
His party was in power. Should we trust them?

Jindal's political party supposedly represents fiscal conservatism and minimal intervention from the government, but he and his state certainly accepted government assistance and millions in federal dollars during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Does he suffer from selective amnesia?
