Is WBC guilty of child abuse?

by GCTMT

The Members of Westboro Baptist Church will often bring there children with them to protest, is that child abuse?

Link embedded.

Pretty good story, and the video at the end shows how children are being exploited.

While I don't have an issue per se with people bringing their kids to things that are important to them (even if they are issues I do not agree with), I do have a major problem with any people instilling such hate (toward any group) in their progeny. Putting a shirt on your kid that says 'God hates *****' qualifies in my mind.

(There was audio but no video in the link, GCTMT. Maybe it's my computer.)

Sorry you couldn't watch it. I think it might be your computer because it worked on mine. Can you watch videos on youtube? If so, I will try to find something.

I would agree that it is VERY inappropriate......to bring a child to their hate-filled displays.

You DO realize that WBC is NOT typical of Baptist Churches? If not, may I say (as a Baptist) it is out there......WAY OUT THERE. Very un-Christian.

They (WBC) are way out there. I agree that most Baptists are decent.

I really do think what they are doing is bordering on child abuse. WBC is a family of lawyers, however, so they've managed to get away with a lot.

The video didn't shock me because I have heard of this group before, but I think it says a lot that I am no longer shocked by these sorts of things, I'm not alone.

So, if you do agree that it's child abuse, what do you think would be appropriate interventions, if any?

Gosh - I don't think anything can be legally held against them.

Morally on the other hand. . . . this is abusive.

What ever happened to those two blonde teen girls who were singers . . .out here in California . . ? They were part of a white supremest group. Can't remember the name . ..

Nevermind....I tried the vid a couple hours later and it worked. Ugh. I'm so disgusted by these people's actions.

I don't go to a Baptist church but have been a member of one previously in the not too distant past. And no, these people don't speak for Baptists, or Christians, or even conservatives. Legally, they are free to say and do what they want, but morally - They sure did pick the wrong group to mess with...

Well, it's indoctrination, for sure ... but I'm not willing to call it child abuse ... more than one activist of one flavor or another brings their kids to demonstrations, marches, etc.

Check out all the kids at Gay Pride ...

Nope, not abuse ... just really hateful indoctrination that may or may not "take" ... we hope mostly not.

^.. The type of indocrination is precisely the point, Heron. How many children at gay pride parades are encouraged to hate other people?
