I was referring to "hoops" as the citizenship process, seeing how many of these kids have been in this country for multiple years, if not a decade or more.

But your last bit still punishes the kids of legal residents: those born here. They should be first on the list, not worked in later if there's still classroom.
What about kids born here whose parents are illegal?
They are American citizens but with your approach the parents and by default the children get deported.
In reality, American citizens are getting deported now because the Republican policies were heartless. They deport the illegal alien parents and force the American citizen child to go with them.
Since they are American citizens should the parents get citizenship by default? Or should we throw those chidlren out or into foster care???

That would be a different discussion.
And no, just because they've been here for years, if they came illegally, they should not be given "cuts" into the line of people are trying to come here in the legal manner.

By default, I believe those kids have dual citizenship. So it's not like they are kids without a country.
I agree it's a slippery slope, but if we tried to do what they do and expect to get away with it in another country, how would that work? And I believe that if we just forgive all the illegalities and fastrack their citizenship, it's an incentive for others to try it that way also.

Perhaps the kids from Japan, or India, or Italy, or Kenya (or wherever) should have the same hoops as kids of illegal immigrants. Now THAT would even the playing field. As it is now, they don't.

So you DO think we should deport Americans then...
Um...
When it's time to deport you are you going to change your tune?

Which is no hoops at all. come illegally, stay forever, campaign on why they should be given special rights?

If my parents had been deported, I would expect they would have taken me with them. I surely wouldn't leave my kids behind. But then again, perhaps people don't think that far ahead when they make some decisions, and maybe they think "it won't happen to me." I don't know.
As far as I know, (and I'm no expert) I don't think the children would be forced to leave... some parents might have legal relatives to whom they would trust their kids.
I already said it's a slippery slope, but the first step was taken by entering this country illegally. That was a decision made by the individuals and once again, as is so common these days is so many ways, taking responsibility for one's own decisions is so unpopular.
