| | Will Republicans ever contribute good ideas instead of just bing Obstructionists?
In Janurary, the nation voted in a new President, a new House majority and a new Senate majority. Shortly after the election (which started in the last adminsitration) the county has come face to face with an unprescedented combination of challenges. In the face of an economic catastrophe, a crumbling healthcare system, global warming crisis, a war is two countries, a pandemic, a drug cartel war on our southern border, President Obama has taken proactive steps to meet these challenges, more than any administration has done in modern history. People may not agree with some of the things he is doing, but it is clear that he is doing something.
What about Republicans? Thus far, all that they have done is to be obstructionists to the Democrat's initiatives. They have no ideas of their own, their ideas, their ideas and propositions are composed of "our position is the opposite of Obama's position!"
All that the Republicans have is to be contrarians to Obama and the Democrats. Obama, unlike our previous President, is thoughtful, reasonable, and intelligent. All that leaves the Reblicans is to be unreasonable and crazy. I mean, the list of things that Republicans have gotten their panties up in a bunch over is Obama's birth certificate, that he bowed to a Saudi official, he is liked by our European allies, he shook hands with the President of Venezuela, and that Michelle Obama decided to start a organic garden at the White House. And its only been 5 months!!! Furthermore, Texas Republican Governor wants to succeed from the country and Republicans have no real plan for healthcare reform other than sticking to the broken system we have. Progressive liberals welcome Republicans, Democrats, Independents, liberals, conservatives, libertarians, and whatever other ideals you may subscribe to as long as you bring in good ideas.
I for one am glad that Obama and the Democrats are actually making some big changes, changes that we voted him in for. He may not do everything I may have ideally wanted, but thats the nature of politics, its a system of compromise and give and take. Whats most important is that he is doing something.
To the other like minded people on this board, although it seems that this section of the forum is overrun by ring-wing Rush Limbaugh worshipers, know for a fact that they are the minority in this country and certainly in the healthcare field. Although we may not be as militaristic and radical as the right wing, rest assure in the fact that we are here and more and more, we will no longer be quiet and complacent.
*Btw I think I posted this in the wrong section, so I'm also posting it here.

Crying about government spending/deficit right now is like crying to the firefighters to try not to get the carpet wet while they're putting out the fire thats burning down you're house.
Seriously!! We have to be careful about the deficit. Our posterity will end up paying for our selfishness. Obama criticised people for spending too much on their credit cards, yet that is exactly what the gov is doing. People can go bankrupt when the bills get too high. The gov can't. How can we pay off 20 trillion? We need to let the idiots go broke who overspent. Those who get bailed out will live to do it again since they didn't learn.
Do you think the gov running healthcare is a good idea?
How do you feel about Obama doing the tribunals?
How do you feel about the speaker of the house saying water boarding is bad, yet we find out she had knowledge it was going on and didn't do anything to stop it?

This is surely not the time to be worried about what the deficit will be, however I absolutely LOVE the idea of Obama being re-elected for a 2nd term! Furthermore, Obama was handed this magnificent mess by your favorite Republican - GHWB - so whatever happens, cut him some slack, he's got a lot of work to do & he needs 2 terms just to get started. Lastly, I'm young, so I'll stick to what I know - recent history - and modern history says, Democrats do it better. Don't believe me, do the homework, compare & contrast & see for yourself!
