BTW, "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem" ... I first read that in a book by Eldridge Cleaver ... a militant Black Panther ... don't know if it was original to him or if he got it somewhere else. Back in the late 60's, early 70's it was a mantra of the radical left.

Funny how these aphorisms get to be part of the collective consciousness, isn't it?

Maybe we have more to teach other than we think.

you're right, elvish.
and even though i don't agree with him, i do understand why he'd want liberalism/'socialism' to fail.
but still, even if we don't pull together, i want what benefits this country and her people the most.
whatever and whoever it takes.
it's very true what heron said...if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
and that's the bottom line.

Is anyone surprised?

And does anyone remember how those of us who were openly unsupportive of Bush were vilified by the talking heads---including, and especially, by Mr. Rush Limbaugh---for YEARS? I don't recall anyone outside of Hollywood being so uncharitable as to say we wanted him to fail outright; nonetheless, we were called unpatriotic at best and traitors at worst.

Hey, whatever..........there are two sets of rules, one for trash-talking talk-show hosts and another for everyone else. I guess we shouldn't expect anything different. And at least Rush is being honest, which in a sense is refreshing.

I did not hope President Bush would fail. I so wanted him to be a good President.
I would have been OK with what my expectation was; that he would be as good as his father.

But to want the President to fail at economic prosperity? To promote his failure at working with each other when we can?
To want him to fail at attempts to prevent terrorism?

Sorry.

I just hope he is joking. A really bad joke.

It's not a joke. And I'm with you, Herring---I didn't want Bush to fail either, I wanted him to keep going the way he did when he energized and comforted the country following 9/11. I was bitterly disappointed in his actions after that. But I never wanted him to fail..........that's the worst kind of un-patriotism there is IMHO.

i never wanted president bush to fail, either.

i never agreed with him but i prayed for him every stinkin day of his presidency and hoped he did great things. why? because he was the president of the country i live in. i want this country to remain the great country it is. and when the president fails, we all fail.

the people who say they hope obama fails, who call him the immaculate and the messiah (i have yet to hear a democrat call him this), who say that he doesn't "deserve" a chance because no one gave bush one..... you're hoping for us all to go down the tank with him.

it can get worse in this country and it's probably going to. and if we don't band together, we as a nation will fall apart.
