The only thing that Beck does is add to peoples irrational fears. It's pretty sad.

Apparently, there are some White Supremacist extremists who think he's just the bees' knees:

http://www.salon.com/news/glenn_beck...and_stormfront

The article begins with a report from the Anti-Defamation League that expresses concern about a possible " ... increase in anti-government extremists and the potential for a rise of violent anti-government acts,"

It goes on to say:
"But Beck insists his critics are imagining things, that he does not engage in racial fear-mongering, that a string of guests with ties to hate groups do not form a meaningful pattern, and that he's not a racist. It occurred to me the other day that if you really want to know whether Beck and his guests are blowing racial dog-whistles, it's best to ask a dog."

It goes on to quote a number of discussion board posts from white supremacist sites that celebrate Beck's effectiveness in "waking people up" and pushing them into the supremacists' arms.

Does that prove anything about Beck? Nope ... even the Bible is being mangled to preach violence now and I don't think that means Christians are murderers.

It does mean that I'm keeping a very wary eye on the whole situation. There have been way too many veiled threats over the last few months.

I'm sure there are many leftist extremist groups who are just tickled pink that Obama is President and making his changes.
Anything that happens in the general vicinity of the middle of the spectrum, especially when the actors are at the fringes of the "normal" range, excite those in the extreme.

I read that part and I'm glad they stated it wasn't very scientific. I can do the same thing with quotes from MSNBC and make it look like all Democrats are socialists from cherry picking comments.

As a conservative minded person, I think it is a time when the pendulum has swung so far to the left and for every action, there usually is an equal opposite reaction. I think that is we see an increase in anti government dissent. (although I personally would like to see the numbers on this as compared to previous years) Of course, this is IMO.

You are spot on with this assessment, IMO.

I would hope, however, that those of us who are alarmed about the country's abrupt change of direction from extreme right to radical left will not be assumed to have been "pushed into the arms of the supremacists". There is a HUGE difference between being a law-abiding, God-fearing, Constitution-loving, decent, normal American and dwelling among the Fred Phelpses and the David Dukes of the world. Everyone would do well to remember that.

Here are the stories of 75 terrorist plots and conspiracies in the United States since 1995 — plots and violence waged against a democratic America.

I don't think the country has made a switch from the extreme right to the extreme left. I don't think we've ever been on extremes and Obama certainly isn't "radical left" in my opinion. I think each side keeps the other from being to extreme in the long run.

And the "radical left" () is almost as ticked at Obama as the righties are.

Right ... left ... center ... all terms of relative position and wholly dependent on one's personal perspective and field of vision.

Personally, I don't care if you call the guy ten miles high ... I'm still keeping a wary eye on the situation. Meanwhile, it's a good thing to see self-identified conservatives disavowing the nut-jobs.
