Marla, you are a good person through and through. I won't begin to attempt to change your mind about anything.

I certainly believe in love and the capacity of human beings to use that love to change the world for the better. That will remain my unshakable belief.

I do get discouraged sometimes because it seems that causes I believe in such as health care, marriage equality for same-sexed couples, the environment, veganism are all attacked as being fanatical and crazy when it makes perfect sense to me. Sometimes I question my sanity that I'm too extreme and radical. I guess I took the comment about kool aid drinkers and "greenies" too personally, because I believe in the green movement and that human beings have caused change for the worse in this world and now we have to pay the price to fix it and that we can do it if we try. I acknowledge some of the radical protests can be "extreme" in nature.

I do respect that others have a different opinion.

no marla, you're not a bad person, at all!:chuckle:icon_hug:

i could be wrong, but i felt this thread was started, in response to tweety's other thread "Please tell me...".
in the "please tell me" thread, tweety was obviously upset/disillusioned about a seemingly negative reaction to michelle obama and jill biden...
and as a way to reinforce his ideals, he started this thread as a powerful reminder that man is good.
i didn't get the impression that he was looking for 'political' feedback, but wanted reinforcement of his standards re humanity.

of course i could be waaaay off, and know tweety will correct me...
and know he'll be gentle with me, right tweety?

You hit the nail on the head. That's exactly the thought process that went into this thread.

Of course, when I post a thread or post, I get what I get and accept that. But I do bite back....LOL

That is just not gonna happen with the majority of folks.

I have to say that I don't eat much meat at all - very rarely beef.

I'm a big fan of salmon and halibut. And I need the fish oil for my cholesterol.

When we post a thread, ya gotta deal with whatever the response is as long as it is with the TOS.

I've done that - posted something with a certain frame of mind and it was taken in a different direction.

It depends on where a person sits I am sure.

And yes, you can bite back.

I could live without red meat easily now that I've "detoxed" for some months now and learned to appreciate real foods, the way God made them. But I like poultry, and I especially love fish.........I could live on salmon and halibut and fresh brook trout!

And yes, I'm guilty of making a political statement out of this thread, and I shouldn't have. Obviously I, too, can bite when a sore subject comes up......sorry.

I love you all!

My cholesterol was a bit high and I haven't eaten meat for years.
It came down nicely when I stopped eating sweets and dried fruits.
And satisfy myself with nuts.

Interesting.

What's interesting about me is that I've always had low total cholesterol and low bad cholesterol...as low as 106 total. However, the weird thing is I have low good cholesterol too and have a bad ratio of total/hdl that says I'm at risk for a cardiac event. Go figure. I've researched this a bit and there doesn't seem to be a consensus of treatment/cause other than maybe heredity.

My "good" cholesterol is fine - my "bad" cholesterol is high but down from a few months ago. My triglycerides are normal. I rarely eat anything that once had a liver (this is the way my nutrition teacher taught us to recognize foods with cholesterol).

I rarely eat sweets. Just don't have a craving for that.

What I do do is over eat healthy food. Like I love rice and had 3 servings of brown rice last night.

Calories are calories in terms of weight gain - You think you'd get some credit for the good stuff.

I'm on a medicine that already has liver side effects so if I need to go on a statin or something, I'm gonna be up poop creek.

I weigh 20 more pounds than when I got preggers with my last child - I'm hoping with weight loss I can get the #'s down.

Darn liver!

Well, I've eaten, drank, and been merry all weekend.......and the nausea and the splitting headache have already begun.

I swear, eating sweets has almost the same effect on me that booze used to, only I don't get to enjoy the giddiness---I just proceed directly to the hangover stage. Serves me right. Bleah.
