A "bit" creepy. No it's a "lot" creepy and it is telling how evil and mean-spirited these people are.

Is Frank Shaeffer over the top? It sounds like it but then again he knows the people of whom he speaks. OR he could just be trying to sell his book.

I told you my initial reaction in reading VERSE 8 . . . is that it was the same as folks who used to have the countdown clock in their profiles or sig lines on here . . . counting down the time until Bush was gone.

All I've found is Verse 8.

One of my Facebook friends has a countdown to the end of Obama's presidency.

Nothing wrong with sincere prayer for the President....key word sincere.....

I'm disturbed because some so-called Christians have taken a verse of Scripture and used it out of context to mean something it obviously was not meant to mean. In context (meaning what comes before and after) it is obviously calling for a man's physical destruction, and there's not really another way to take it.

Ultimately, these people are going to have to answer to a much higher power than me.

calling for a man's physical destruction, as well as taking measures to ensure there will be no further offspring.
as far as i know, there isn't any other way to interpret it.

Well, IF that's what they mean, that is wrong. Very wrong. But, I'm not convinced that verse 9 is intended to be included in their train of thought (verse 9 is NOT on the t-shirts). More than likely most people aren't even aware of verse 9.

Don't misunderstand, I don't like the t-shirt, the idea conveyed, or anything about it.

Respectfully, I think that's exactly what they mean ... but only the originators of the idea really know.

I would love to hear an explanation of why this isn't the same as an extremist Muslim preaching that killing Americans will be rewarded by Allah.

Because I really think they meant it like the countdown clock idea . . . . but taking a verse out of the bible and trying to take it out of context gets even Christians in trouble and they probably need to back off this idea.

I don't believe they meant it for evil. Respectfully.

We'll have to agree to disagree, there, steph.

I believe that the authors are Bible-literate enough to know what the following verses said. If they wanted to limit their message to the two first lines, they would have printed them out on the t-shirt.

We'll just have to keep an eye out and see where people take it.
