Without a public option there's no point. The poor will still have medicare. The working people whom can afford it and choose to spend it will have insurance that will dictate what they can have done and pay co-pays out the butt and it's business as usual for the rich. Then there's the millions of uninsured for a variety of reasons, but uninsured they get and eventually large amounts of them get sick or hurt in trauma, but there are laws that if they go to an ER they must be treated.

I've said it before, I'd be surprised if I see any real health care reform in the next for years, or in my lifetime for that matter.

I can't even pay attention to this issue anymore. I understand politics, but I don't understand the complancy of the rest of rest. We should be marching in the streets demanding that something be done. Until we are sick I guess it's o.k. the system rapes us as a society. The we just think we're so helpless, that we don't demand more from our politicians, public option or not.

As health care providers we should be better advocates, yet we hate the ANA, and we hate "Obamacare" and simply whine "it needs a change, but not that change". Well demand another change then.

Ugh....no more political forums for me for a while. Time for a hiatus. Getting off my high horse now. LOL

Details would obviously be forthcoming, but it doesn't take a lot of intellectual muscle to figure how it would work. There would be a public option (funded by premiums, not tax dollars) that States could choose to opt-out of.

What's so "absurd" about that?

Reconciliation isn't a nuclear option...Frankly the GOP rammed the welfare for Billionaire acts through using a reconciliation process. It will be hypocritical for them to whine about the Sen Majority to use it now....

This blame it on the republicans garbage is getting real old real fast. Dems have control of the house and senate,. They can pass any bill they want without 1 republican vote for support. So stop this whining and realize that just maybe these bills suck.

Personally I don't think my rant was a whine (not that you were saying I was whining personally, but just sayin'......). The bills might suck, but this "go back to the drawing board", "we need reform, just not this reform" tactic is really just means "lets go back to business as usual". Republicans aren't the only ones that want the $$ of the lobbiests and donors that will help to get them elected. The entire congress is useless.

I don't hear or see any evidence that they really care about healthcare as a congress, that as a unit they are committed to doing anything that's fair and in the interest of Americans, or what the Americans truly want. They want the issue to go away. Kudos to the committed people for at least attempted to hold the carpet down while they try to sweep the issue under it hoping it will go away.

Oh well, it's not the first time in my life something I've cared about has failed. I can handle defeat, but I reserve the right to bitterly complain and I'll try not to sound whiney.

^.. Quite right Tweety. In my previous posts on this thread, I might have painted Republicans as the only opposition to meaningful health insurance reform. Well, to be completely fair some Democrats are also jumping on the bandwagon and lacking in political courage.

I vote, so that means I have the right to bicker and complain about how this country is governed whenever and however I damn well feel like it.

Me too Man in Black - Welcome~ . ... .. I'm a member of the opposition (conservative who thinks a public option is wrong) and Tweety and I are friends.

Go figure.

Back to the topic . . .
