Reid Hopes To Unveil Health Care Bill Details Next Week

by HM2VikingRN Staff

But a leadership source tells me that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hopes to unveil details of the Senate health care bill--the merged version of the Senate HELP and Finance Committee bills--early next week. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2...ek.php?ref=fpa

I know I contacted my senators today in favor of the strong public option.

I wonder if this version includes the part where his state (Nevada) doesn't have to help pay, along with 3 others, while California (California, the state that is on the brink of bankruptcy!) and three others have to pay extra to make up the difference. Also I wonder if this is where the "opt-out" rumors started. Harry wants to broker a nice little perk for himself, probably because he's tanking in the polls and thinks this would help him get re-elected.

Default Merged health care bill will include a public option allowing states to opt-out.

Olympia's last name is apropos. We all knew her alliance with the democrats was a "Snowe" job.

Snowe is "surprised and disappointed" by Reid's "opt out" option. She says she will not support that.

And democrats, in their closed-door discussions, showed just how much they are interested in a bi-partisan solution.

It's pretty pointless to seek a bi-partisan solution when the Republicans have been nothing but fear-mongers and obstructionists.

If Snowe supports the bill (one Republican) that doesn't mean it's bi-partisan. I could care less how Snowe votes.

If the Republicans use filibuster, here's hoping that the Democrats use Reconcilliation, or the "nuclear option".

We've heard their (Republicans) "concerns" and "arguments", it's time to get on with it and pass a bill with a public option.

Well, my faith in the political process is renewed. Mid-terms can't come fast enough (go ahead....I'd like to see them use that "nuclear option"). I'm satisfied with today's developments.

An "opt out" option is beyond absurd. They can't even explain how it would work!
