Some really sad photos. . .

Found this link at a music BB, interestingly enough.

Really sad and scary.

I was really effected by this set of photos. Really tugged at my heart strings.

I ventured upon a set of lyrics found in the musical, "Into the Woods" by Stephen Sondheim. This one number is titled: "Children will Listen" and is sung by various members of the cast in the musical. As the title suggests, it's about children. I share this in response to these photos and as a warning to all adults of all cultures in all countries. . .

"Children will Listen"

Careful the things you say,
Children will listen.
Careful the things you do,
Children will see.
And learn.
Children may not obey,
But children will listen.
Children will look to you
For which way to turn,
To learn what to be.
Careful before you say,
"Listen to me."
Children will listen.

Careful the wish you make,
Wishes are children.
Careful the path they take,
Wishes come true,
Not free.
Careful the spell you cast,
Not just on children.
Sometimes the spell may last
Past what you can see
And turn against you...

Careful the tale you tell.
That is the spell.
Children will listen...

Default Don't you think these photo's are staged?
For politics? At least they show both sides...the two center pictures show Jewish boys. In one, the two Jewish boys are holding guns to the head of a Palestinian boy...to the left of that is a Jewish boy learning to shoot. These photos are just political propaganda. Don't be sad over photos and cartoons. In yesterday's new, there was an article about Jenin. The U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Roed Larson said:This destruction by Israel is unwarranted and has created a human catastrophe "horrifying beyond belief." What I saw yesterday was a massacre, the destruction was massive and the stench overwhelming. I saw children looking for their parents, and parents digging in the rubble trying to find their children.
Picture that.

Whether the photos were staged or not, children were being exploited. I don't give a crap which side did the exploitation.

My heart ached seeing these kid exploited for whatever purposes by who's ever side. Definatley seeing children walking in rubble is a heart ache.

What's even sadder is that these children of war are being taught hate and violence . . . at such a young age. The loss of childhood . . .so sad. . .

I think its terrible too. i knew a guy from Cuba and he told me that the whole time he went to school over there every morning they had to say a pledge of some sort that says they hate Americans. He said they start teaching them this from the time they start school. Isn't that horrible. I can't believe they teach their children vilence and hatred.

Default "Would you say this is the Mideast version of Cowboys and Indians?""
These photos remind me of all the kids in our neighborhood playing Cowboys and Indians, a game American boys have played for a hundred years. We grew up hearing that "Indians are Savages", and "the only good Indian is a dead Indian." God knows we did everything possible to wipe them off the face of the earth. Even made their one main food source nearly extinct. Then, our enemies were "savages." Now our enemies are "terrorists."

BIG BIG difference, prn. The indians didn't invade OUR turf..we invaded theirs. That time we were wrong...severly wrong. The indians didn't kill 3000+ innocent civilians who were doing nothing more than trying to provide for their families. The indians did nothing to ask for their injustice. I don't recall hating indians as a child. I recall playing cowboys and indians..someone was the indian, someone the cowboy. I never realized you were the villian if you were the indian?? We also frequently dressed up as indians on holidays..was that also because they were "the enemy"?? The indians were never our enemy; we were theirs.

The "terrorist" did what we did to the indian; invaded our territory, our home. They killed the innocent. Should we not do anything and become extinct as the indian has...

don't compare the American Indian to the terrorist..
those are apples and oranges!

Nurse4kids, back then, the white men were the terrorists, now they are funding the Israelis to do the same to the Palestinians......
One Palestinian described his situation as being like living in a house, when a stranger comes along and, with help from his friends, takes your house for himself. Needing workers, he lets you live in your own garage, but he charges you twice what he pays for water, electricity, and such. If you complain strongly, he locks you in the garage, and if you fight him, he knocks down the garage on you.
He seems to have left out the building of settlements in your yard, but that seems a succinct summary of the State of Israel from the Palestinian viewpoint to me.

Nurse4kids, you missed my point. I said these photos remind me of kids in our country when they played cowboys and Indians. In a Middle East country, their culture would be represented as the arabs vs the Israeli's, a modern-day depiction of cowboys vs indians......appropriate for their culture. I can assure you if you drive thru Tel Aviv's outskirts, you will find little boys dressed as Israeli soldiers with toy guns, and the lowest ranking members of the "gang" will have a rag wrapped around his head with some arab scribbles on it....modern day "cowboys vs Indians". In my neighborhood, the cowboys always won......that's why girls usually got stuck with being the indians, if they were allowed to play at all...it got pretty rough. I recall my brothers drawing swastika's on flags and sidewalks, during the fifties....then it was g.i. joe's vs. germans. Now, in the mid-east, Jew vs: arab, ....look at the pictures, these kids have been dressed up and posed for these photo's, for propaganda purposes. They've most likely been plastered over every newspaper in Israel.
